Thank God for Team Jones

If not for Team Jones, my mighty squads would be last in the combined standings today....

Bottom ten in the main, bottom 25 in the online....

At least I'm consistent.

Silver lining....it'll make it that much more amazing if I can win.

When's football season start?

G-X,

I think I can brighten your day ever so slightly. My combined ranking is 268/279, so I'm basically on the same street as you are. There is legitimate reason for optimism for my on-line squad, but my main event team is almost beyond hope. My strategy in both leagues was to draft offense early and often. This would compromise my pitching somewhat, but the hitting side would be top notch. In the main event, I selected hitters with 8 of my first 10 picks, including the first five. How's that working out, you ask. My total main event offense is currently 371/390. I'm 364 in steals, 376 in runs and 384 in HRs. How are my core players doing? The eight hitters I took in the first ten rounds have combined for .251, 50 r, 8 hr, 72 rbi, and 2 sb. The steals are not a surprise because speed guys went ridiculously early in my league, but the rest is a car wreck. Since my starting pitching is very much a work in progress, this team is a mess. I'm not giving up, that's for sure, but this season has the real and discouraging possibility of being a lost cause. There may not be a single owner in the main event that would trade his/her team for mine about now! And to think I had such high expectations going into the draft!

Well, does this make you feel any better? Misery deserves company, the saying goes!

Hello Kevin....I appreciate the company....

I haven't given up hope on either team....but the production from my high picks, the failures of my middle picks, and the complete non-existence of stats from my lower picks have me a bit discouraged.

Players such as Rollins, Texieria, Alexi, Holliday, Fielder, Cliff Lee, Joba, Stephen Drew, etc. are forgetting that they are supposed to be high end players since making it on one or both of my teams....

Players such as Huston Street, Jeff Clement, Chris Carpenter, Milton Bradley, Justin Upton, Melvin Mora, etc. are not supposed to get injured, demoted, or have their roles changed within the FIRST week of the season (though I'm sure some may disagree)...

And pitchers such as Verlander, Aaron Cook, Mike Pelfrey, and yuck, dare I say.....WANG....are not supposed to be this bad are they....especially since everyone of their brutal starts were when they were in one or both of my lineups.

Sigh.....well, like I said....if I can turn these teams around (and I'm trying like hell!!)....ya never know.

Good luck to you Kevin....maybe by this time next week, we'll be moving up.

Glenn

Glenn,

It's painful looking at 0 homeruns from Matt Holliday, Geovany Soto, and Big Papi ... combined. Positive note: Their combined homerun total can't sink any lower!
