truly the most overrated manager in the game.

can't manage a pen, can't construct a lineup, just be thankful you had mo rivera joe.

that is all. I dislike Torre because of what he did to the Atlanta franchise when he was a manager. And in his first 14 years managing (12 full time, 1 as a replacement and 1 year fired), he finished first once, which strangely enough, was the first year he was in Atlanta managing the team Bobby Cox built. He also had a winning record in the second half of the season only once during that time too.



He is, however, good in the format where he has mucho funds in big market programs. You cannot take away from the fact that his programs have finished 1st in their divisions 11 of the last 13 years and 2nd the other two. He gets results.



However, I will say he would not get the same results with less than $100m worth of payroll. Joe Torre in a Minnesota or a Florida would be a (bad) joke.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.
