Who Has Led The Overall Competitions In 2009?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Apr 29, 2009 9:52 am

It's quite an accomplishment to see your name at the top of the overall standings in either of our national contests. To be in first place at the end of the day in the NFBC main event is doing something special considering the talent among the 390 teams, and leading 599 other teams in the NFBC Online Championship is also a great acomplishment.

As I look at the overall standings at the start of each day, I realized that maybe I'm not giving enough recognition to all of those teams who at some point in the season was leading the overall competition. And I also realized that a lot of different teams are at the top at some point during the season.

So with that in mind, I'm going to start this thread to list every team that at some point was in first place in the overall competition. STATS will have a new page soon that lists the Top 20 teams in each contest like we used to have on our home page along with the top two teams in each contest, but I'll still keep this thread going even after that is done.

I'll update this as we go and I know I don't have every team that has been in first place so far, so please help me get this right for now. Please add to this list if I've missed you, but here's a look at the teams who have been in first place in both national contests so far:

NFBC Main Event

Teams Who Have Led At The End Of The Day

Keith Voight

Win Murray/Ray Murphy

Scott Keikoan

Lopi Asch

Paul Weber

Dave Geisinger

James Li

NFBC Online Championship

Teams Who Have Led At The End Of The Day

Jon Stadtmueller

Terry Haney

Mark Janik

Kevin Schiller

Scott Keikoan

Ken Magner

Mike Cameron

Michael Edelman

Again, I know I'm missing some teams, so post them here and I'll add them to the list and then update it each time we get a new team on the list. Should be a fun, long list to follow during the year.

So i assume Scott is first overall in the combined standings?

If he has a good team in both contests he must be first in the combined.

Good job so far Scott!

coming from one of the worst track records anyone can have since 2004, I would say that is is very satisfying to jump out to such a good start. I believe I was ranked 400+. Also, being in a league with guys like Chris Poulson and Shawn Childs is a bit scary and intimidating. I am only hoping the hot hitting will continue to keep me competitive. If not at least this has been exciting and easily the closest I have ever been to the top of the standings.

See, in one day we have two new leaders in the two overall competitions. Both are NFBC Charter Members as Paul Weber has jumped into the lead in the NFBC main event and Mike Cameron is now leading the NFBC Online Championship. I love these early months as so many new teams jump in and out of the lead.

Congrats Paul, who is in Chicago League 2, and congrats Mike, who drafted in an early March 30th Online Championship League. You are now on the list above for the rest of the year.

Greg would be really cool to add the length that they held the first overall position too. Kinda like how the NCAA does how long a team was ranked #1 etc..

This way at years end we can see how things worked out and where the top tenure guy finished etc. would be some more cool stats to keep.

thanks.

thanks. Yeah, once this settles in we can certainly do that. Right now it doesn't look like anyone has held it every day for more than a week. Keith Voight has likely held the main event lead the most so far, but not for much more than a week at a time.

Jon Stadtmueller held the early lead in the NFBC Online Championship, but again not for much more than a full week at a time. So we'll keep track of this once someone hangs on for a bit. Thanks for the input.

I believe David Geisinger had his first lead in the main competition on Monday. Want to make sure it's duly noted.

I thought Paul Weber was still in first place each day this week, but I'll add Dave above if that is correct. I saw he was in second place this morning as Chicago has three of the Top 5 teams overall.

Mike Cameron is holding on strong in the NFBC Online Championship. Good luck to all in both events and I'll continue to update this list each day. If I miss one, please correct me here.

Yeah, just subtracting yesterday's point moves from today's totals shows that David had the lead over Paul by 12 points, 3330 to 3318.

For Paul to have 1824 batting points AND be sitting on a stashed Wieters is insane.

all fun stuff, but 100% meaningless in projecting who will win the NFBC. Lathom lead last year for a month+ in the summer. i heard from trusted friends that has team looked DOMINATING AND COULDN'T BE STOPPED!!! then, the wheels fell off and he finished outside the top 100 i believe (or outside the top 80).

one thing is certain, enjoy the ride at the top because IT WILL NOT LAST!!

Congrats to James Li of LV 7, who has taken the overall lead in the main event today. You're on the list above James. Now good luck hanging onto that lead for another five months!!!

While I was in Los Angeles this weekend covering a football event, I noticed that Michael Edelman forged into first place in the NFBC Online Championship, overtaking Mike Cameron, who had been on top for weeks. Congrats Michael and I've added you to the list of leaders on Page 1. Good luck the rest of the way. Only 20+ weeks to go. :D

There's a new overall leader: Lindy Hinkelman.

Ray and I have had our 2 worst weeks over the past 3; even so, we've been putting up a reasonable fight. But Lindy's been freaking unstoppable.

Lindy is on a mission, but you guys have held that spot quite tightly over the first half of the season - excellent job. Class Act, in my eyes, for you to acknowledge Lindy on the day he tops the most important 390 field. Kudo's to Win & Ray.

Be looking forward to watching you battle it out for bragging rights and top honors with all of the top teams DOWN the stretch. Good luck.

Former Champ, Terry Haney, has actually been leading Lindy's league most of the week. Solid job Champ ....... maybe the two of you will keep pushing each other to the wire!

Greg, I spent one day in first place in the Online (by a HALF-point), and I have a screen shot to prove it, because I knew it would never happen again. Unfortunately I was right, and it's been downhill ever since.

I want my name on that damned list! ;)
