Top 10 List- Displaced Anger
An incredible amount of bitchin' and moanin' on the Boards. Some has got to be about teams getting off to slow starts.
These are the things and people that take hits while upset at that wasscally Wang and others.
10. MDC- Since the start, their lists are horrible. A bonus to the good player that will take the time to do their own list. Using MDC lists is worse than drafting out of a magazine.
MDC itself? A Helluva site.
9. Tom- When the boss gets kicked around, the sidekick gets kicked too. He's only there to help.
8. The Venue- No matter what, to some there is a more convenient and better place to draft.
7. The League- "I'm in the same league as...."
6- Draft number- So tell me, do you still think getting one of those top 4 players is crucial? Except for Pujols, they are of no more help than some double digit picks. Someone even offered that 3rr be used for baseball, because the top 4 were far better than the others.
5. MB Posters- I know I've felt it and I know of others too.Its easy to take it out on some posters. Take John (Walla Walla). He embraces stirring the pot and retiring every once in a while. Heck, he's probably bitched about everything on this list. To me though, he's a part of our big family and I'd miss the way he can pisss everybody off with a short post
4. Injuries- There like car crashes, unless you or your family are involved, they're just another statistic. But when it's one of our players....
3. Greg- Here's a(nother) case where John was off base. If 389 players in the Main are happy with Greg's performance, that is right up there with Ivory soap in terms of percentages. For a job like Greg's, that is just silly good.
2. Circumstances- This can be all-encompassing. To me, it is something that is hardly ever bitched about on the Boards, leaving me a little surprised.
For an example, your player, Carlos Pena, is up after Longoria, the bases are loaded with one out, Longoria hits a double that clears the bases and gets thrown out at third trying to stretch the hit to a triple. Your player, Pena comes up with a worst case scenario of 2 outs and nobody on, instead of rbi opportunities. My number one bitch at home are scenarios like that.
#1 (with a bullet)- STATS- If anybody is feeling low about their team, STATS has become the proverbial dog that needs to be kicked. It will be never-ending. No matter what features they add, a new one should be added as well.
Meanwhile, the number one priority goes unrewarded. Just getting the numbers right.

6. I was fired up when both Utley and Kinsler made it to me at 13 and I have to say that I was unthrilled about drafting so late but even with Kinsler moderately better so far, it was hard to make a wrong choice there. They both look like top 5 players for next year.
2. Or if Scherzer pitches 6 tremendous innings and then Bob Melvin has to prove why he can't get a team with that much talent to the playoffs to the point that his own announcers are blasting his decisions and basically gives away Scherzer's win.

In the wake of Nick Adenhart's tragic demise - I think perhaps another analogy would have been a better choice here Dan.

Yep, didn't even think...a poor choice.
Your note triggered something else in my mind about not saying anything about something because of circumstances.
Last night I was working while listening to Garza's attempt at a perfect game. The Rays broadcasters got it right. They said that in this day and age with instant information everywhere that they would not go along with the old axiom of not mentioning a no-hitter.
I thought it always to be silly for a broadcaster to do that anyway since their jobs are to fully inform us about the ongoing game.
Hard to believe that some broadcasters still feel it is a jinx to say no-hitter while the game is in progress.

I knew this post would not survive without a new complaint!
Except for the "Extra Day Debacle of 2008" I try not to bitch and moan too much about this event as all-in-all it is great. I was brought up that complaining too much was a sign of a small person. Besides, I save what complaining I do do for the big issues, like the fact:
The country is being run by a Chicago politician and a San Francisco democrat.
I am making more money than I ever have but I have less to spend than ever before.
My weight is too high, my eyesight too poor, my knees too sore, my ankles too weak, my hearing too bad, and the only part of my body that is working reasonably as well as it did in my 20's only interests one person (albeit sporadically and unpredictably).
My kids aren't really kids anymore.
Nobody makes enough good movies anymore and we have lost the ability, for the most part, to write novels or music.
Now that I have bitched enough to show what a small person I am, I can now view baseball and this contest in it's proper perspective...a pleasure.

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I also went through what you are going through with the kids not being kids anymore. Be patient. If you thought kids were great, grandkids are even better....of course by then sporadically and unpredictably will sound good

I am sure you are right. My Grandfather (one of the greatest of the Greatest Generation) gave me the secret to grandchildren...they eventually go home!
And sporadically and unpreditably will continue ad infinitum...I once asked my wife what she thought about me getting a big-game "Trophy Wife". She was all for it as long as she could stuff it's head and mount it on the wall where most big-game trophies belong!

We'll have to explore that in retrospect during the offseason. But I see that I have my Scherzer against your Zim in the H2H this week. Maybe we can let that decide. Zim better do something for you. It's a good thing I don't have kids because I'd have to shield them from your frightening ERA.

Q, you've gotten it wrong twice today. I'm a little disappointed.
First, I am not near as good looking as that gentleman.
Second and more importantly, I was surprised that there wasn't a picture of the true slave driver of a slo-draft. I wasn't in the draft that Greg and John described but it is hard to imagine someone more aggressive than KJ.

You're lucky he lives on the left coast! It would have been 4 in the a.m.!

If we're just in for general bitching at life, my teenage daughter has her first boyfriend.
It's kind of baseball-related because I have an aluminum bat that I can use rather adeptly if needed. I also have a shovel and a truck.

People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.
