Lance – You may have missed the memo…
Greg founded the NFBC, a 15 team per league fantasy baseball format.
Greg founded the NFFC, a 14 team per league fantasy football format.
Those are NOT “mainstream” format for the “casual” player. They are unique setups for the “more than casual” player.
If you want “casual”, go to ESPN, Yahoo, or Sportsline.
Same as restaurants, if you want “casual”, go to the corner deli. If you want “more than casual”, go to a good steakhouse. Don’t try and change a steakhouse into a corner deli!!!

You guys are killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.
That's all I'm saying.
There ARE casual players in the NFBC. There will be less in the future the way this event is evolving.
Book it.

It was a hit!

I like the current method because it involves more thought into setting your lineups. Do you start your 2-start pitcher that has a monday game at home VS the worst hitting team and then they play Sunday VS the sox @ fenway or NYY @ NY? that decision is usually a very tough one and i think a new rule switch would take away that element of thought.
thus i think it would actually favor teams with weaker pitching staffs as they would be able to make more changes to sub out against stronger matchups and actually throughout the season be able to avoid more starts than you would of with the weekly moves.
Think about it......

Nice one, Q!
Aside from driving out those "comfort casual" players...
You'd drive out these types as well...
"Casual baseball fanatics" but not game theorists.
Party animals looking for fun and a chance to find a bone ($$$) every few years...
...and be left with...
A group of Gekko's...
A group of Childs's...
A group of Zola's...
...and me, trying to keep up...

LANCE, whether you know it or not or even want to admit, there are more players playing in daily leagues than weekly. The numbers aren't even close.
You keep mentioning the numbers dropping....have you seen the amount of players playing in the NFBC compared to the millions that aren't? The NFBC is great, but it might receive an influx of people if they were given more control over their teams.
If you guys really stepped back and truly thought about it, you would realize the streaming wouldn't take place the way you envision it. And as with every other setting, we are all playing under the same rules, so if you perceived an advantage, take advantage yourself....even though there wouldn't be much of an advantaged gained.
And until Greg sends out a Poll in a mass e-mail newsletter to ALL participants, no one will truly know what the masses want. The poll on the MB doesn't indicate what everyone really thinks.
And I know my thoughts have nothing to do with the current DL rule, but as I said before, if you are going to allow any 2nd lineup submission during the week, it should include all players to be fair for everyone. If people cannot hop on to submit their lineup a 2nd time, I truly wonder how they have so much time to post their thoughts against it on the mb's.
BTW, read the WCOFB stuff, $1,600 seems a bit pricey to only win $50K(unless I didn't read correctly).

Book it. If i were a gaming operator my focus wouldn't be on keeping casual players. casual players will lose year after year and eventually won't ever be back WHETHER YOU CHANGE RULES OR NOT
i'd be looking to attract "more than casual" players as their loyalty and passion for the game is something you won't get from "casual" players.
lance - if you haven't figured it out, "casual" means dead money. i can tell YOU want to attract as much dead money as possible. i wonder why

Greg - Why don't you post a poll over at the Rotoworld forums and see what those "casual" players as lance would refer to them as would prefer in terms of setting their lineup.
those players would be the newbies that you are trying to attract and are unbiased.

GLY...I'd bet 95% plus of those leagues you speak of (daily) have $200 or less (and most zero) entry fees.

There's many more "causual" players at Rotoworld than the NFBC. I thought you are concerned with growing this event via "casual" players. Now you are bracktracking????? tisk tisk...

[/QUOTE]C'mon, Double G!
We are both using "casual" in a poor way. I guess an NFBC casual player has the desire, money, and passion for playing fantasy baseball at high stakes...but does 1/4th to 1/6th the work of the MOST passionate and dedicated players.
You don't want to end up playing a bunch of Gordon Gekko's in every league every season, do you?
I know, I know...there's only one GG...but either way...I love having a sprinkle of lazy or wealthy or alcoholic, or busy with family and vacations type players in my league. It is more fun, and increases my chances at success.
I WAS that guy...I've been forced to become a game theorist in order to compete...and I have zero money to date for my efforts. I'm your perfect leaguemate...yet you want to drive me out.
If I had a full time job, I'd be toast. I still suffer every holiday or vacation or family get together...no internet contact, no blackberry...I just take the hit...and fight the next week.
5pm PST on a Sunday (diner time)is way too early to tell the family/friends to go home, or run away from hosting an event to log into the computer and spend an hour or more making sure there have been no Soria type stuff going on unoticed.
You on the east coast have a big advantage there IMO, as diner, and or parties are over or at least winding down by 7pm(ish).

lance - i think you may be out of touch with reality. at one time or another WE ALL started with small money leagues and then found the NFBC. please don't discount rotoworld and other sites like it. if you're discounting the viewpoints of rotoworld people, what group of people do you think will make up Greg's newbies each year.
the curtain is coming up on you Wizard of Lance
you want casual, but rotoworld is too casual for you. sure, it is. keep on digg'n

Lance, I think you worry too much about your competition. Do the think the best players in the NFBC lose sleep thinking about what their opponents are doing ? If you wanna be a pro, play like a pro.
As for attracting more players to the NFBC ... make the game the best experience possible and they will come. Losing weekly ABs to injury frustrates everyone who is focused on managing their own team - so giving NFBC owners the option to bench hurt players for a few extra games has gotta be a plus.
The DL opponents seems to be owners who are scared of their competition gaining an edge. Vacations, east coast edge, blah blah blag. Suck it up and step up your game you freakin ...
