How many spots are left in the Chicago draft?

I am seriously considering joining and would like to know if and when there will be a cutoff.

We have plenty of spots available in all 3 cities. You can check out our 2005 Sign-Up thread to get a daily update of who has signed up and where they will be competing. Greg updates that with every new sign-up.

Our cutoff will be the Sunday before the event, so you have plenty of time to sign up although we'd love to have you join today. If you have any questions about the event you can contact Greg or myself anytime. Greg can be reached by phone (715 445 4612 ext. 284) or e-mail ([email protected]) and I can be reached by phone (715 445-4612 ext. 653) or e-mail ([email protected]).

Since you're interested in Chicago, Greg posted something telling folks we'll be at CubsFest this weekend. So if you're in the neighborhood we'd love to meet you and talk to you in person and answer any questions you might have.

Tom did forget to point out that if you are at CubsFest and you are considering joining the NFBC and you are over 21....that we'll be buying the beers!!! :D It would then be considered a business expense and Tom and I could write those beers off as a meaningful cost on our expense reports! :D

We are closing in on 150 signups for the NFBC's main event, which means we're almost half full, an awesome total considering our magazine ads will just begin hitting later this month. We're going to fill up before our March deadline, I'm sure of that, so stay tuned to our message boards. Thanks again and dive on in. YOu'll like the water!

I didn't even know they served beer at CubsFest although I probably could have easily guessed. :D

Free beer is always tough to turn down, but being a lifelong Cardinals fan it would be nearly sacreligious to attend Cubsfest!

But I am looking forward to signing up soon and getting the ball rolling.

That being said, do you think it would be to hard for one man to draft at the NFBC? Will it be to difficult to keep track of picks etc?

If it can be done I shall give it a try.

I think one person is better. As long as you keep track of who's picked its not hard. And you don't waste time arguing with a partner about what you need next. The down side is if you do bad theres no partner to blame. :D

Listen, Dyv, Old Style was a real beer when it was brewed in La Crosse, Wisconsin, but then some Michigan company bought it out. You're too young to remember the '70s, but back then if we weren't downing Old Styles we were tipping Pabst Blue Ribbons. Wow, no wonder I aged so much in the '70s! :D

I would say about half of the owners in baseball had co-managers last year, so you certainly can succeed alone. Our overall champion went alone, but then some other league champions had partners. It all depends on how organized you are on Draft Day and how well you remember which guys you targeted in the later rounds. I can see the benefits of having a partner, but when it's decision time I like to make the final call.

Interestingly, more than 70 percent of our teams in football had co-managers. Not sure what that means, but it's surprising that the two sports were so different when it came to one or two owners forming for Draft Day.

One person or two people, it all depends on preparation. If you and a partner are both digging in magazines (great though they may be) in round 22 trying to find an eligable third sacker, you will still be behind.

Do your research and come in with your cheat sheets (the fewer the better...my only problem in the draft last year was I had too many notes) and one person can definitely keep up. And win!

Old Style, that horse XXXX that Augie Busch called beer, Falstaff, PBR, Black Label, Schlitz...I just love beer. Especially if it is free. But then again, I have drank more liquor out of fruit jars than I would care to remember!
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Ahhh... Old Style.

Greg, I'm just going to have to take your word that sometime long ago in the eons of time it was a good beer. I've never had a sip of it that didn't make my stomach flip ;)

Blatz, Schlitz... Blah...

MGD or a Corona... I don't need any fancy beer!
