I'll take the 2009 version, thank you very much. No rule change needed.

This is probably the most accurate depiction of Lance on Friday 6:55pm ANY year!!

Umm, I really hate to post on this thread, due to that last picture. Thankfully, I do know how to scroll up.
More fuel for the fire. According to RotoWorld, Carlos Delgado will not play for the next few days, with a dl decision on FRIDAY. No help for Delgado owners there.

If only there were one non-DL'd hitter move allowed on Friday all those Delgado owners would not be cursing the Mets slow decision-making process.
They could be enjoying a stress-free weekend, like this.
Instead, it will be more like this.

Add Ludwick to the list.
I LOVE this MLB internet package. Super convenient.
I read about the injury, and went to the game...rewound to the injury, and got to see it multiple times with my own eyes.
At first it didn't look too bad...but his limp was getting worse as he tried to warm it up. Doesn't look good. Possible DL trip.

Can't believe I missed a day's worth of posting about my pet peeve. I've been against this rule from day one, and it has nothing to do with loopholes. It's got everything to do with the "official DL" and the proverbial "Day to day" player.
A guy pulls a hammy Wednesday, instant DL because he's gonna miss 2 weeks. Owner gets to play someone and gain stats over the weekend. Another owner's player twists and ankle Monday, thinks he'll be alright in 3 or 4 days. Thursday the team decides they'll rest him for the weekend series. This owner gets zeroes for the week. (plus the unenviable position of trying to decide if he should play him the following week, or if the guy's gonna miss another 3 or 4 games)
The rule gives an arbitrary advantage to some owners over others based on types of injuries. As many have have over these 6 pages. Blow this damn rule up!

As for Delgado, he wasn't in the Monday starting lineup, and it was known from several sources he was hurting. Delgado owners had a decision to make on Monday, and shouldn't get a pass on Friday (or any day) for making that Monday decision.

Weekly changes. No exceptions. That's the original rule and it works. I don't see the DL rule as being "progressive", or "eliminating a certain amount of the luck factor", The arguments are well documented pro and con. A post season vote will be very interesting.

..As long as the vote is sent to each member buy e-mail. Because ant survey run strictly through these boards is only taking a small sample size of all the NFBC members

Yeah, I think we've covered this subject pretty well now, both visually and via text.
Trust me, I get the pros and cons from both sides. One-third sees this as progressive, one-third sees this as a step back and one-third could go either way with the rule. There's no need for debate anymore because we all have heard all of the arguments now.
The rule is there for everyone the rest of the year and at season's end we'll poll all of our members and set it up so everyone can only vote once. We'll see what it says and move forward.
That being said, there is a compromise to a Friday pickup rule that can be done at season's end with programming from STATS. So that will be one of the options on the survey as well. Just because the current setup has loopholes, that doesn't mean with better thought and programming we couldn't come up with a better setup for Friday's. Just a thought.
So thanks for the fun threads and the images here will forever be etched in our minds. We brought some fun and laughter to the boards for a few days and that's always a good thing. Now let's move on and keep all of our players healthy. Thanks all.

Sorry, but this argument started by Lance is just the consistently dumbest one I've seen.
Why is benching a guy who isn't playing on Friday "getting a free pass", but benching him on Monday is part of the game?
Greg created a rule to help offset lost ABs due to injury intra-week, and there has always been a rule in place to offset longer-term injuries (your bench).
I'd bet Greg's preference would be for any injured player to be replaced ASAP (absent the challenge of owner time constraints), and this should be any owner's preference as well (unless they are just an anti-change grumpy old man).
The problem that comes in is one of time constraints for owners to make switches in a timely manner, which I understand, but it's not like anyone should "want" to win because other teams are losing ABs to injuries and getting zeros in their lineup, but that is the sense I get from certain owners.
Anyone that wants to win this way is just pathetic. Yes, injuries are part of the game in any sport, and the cost is having to replace a better player with an inferior one, but baseball teams don't field 8 players when one gets hurt, and neither should NFBC owners have to play a man (or 2 or 3) short.

[/QUOTE]Call me pathetic all you want, but some of us aren't sitting in a US Time Zone at all times, nor in an area of the world that is always connected. It is a weekly move contest, not a daily or a slide in a Friday injured player contest. So the fact that I am on a plane ride overseas for say 20 hours, with no internet service, should penalize me the opportunity to move a player in. I for one make the committment to follow boxscores daily, but roster changes and FAAB pickups aren't studied daily. Making this contest even more of a daily process may push some current and potential owners away (or maybe that gravitates them).

not to worry Q&W, no changes will be made this year. i think i'll take a chance and say there may be a "subtle" change in the "future" with the friday DL ruling, but it would NOT surprise me to see everything stay "as is". hopefully, your transatlantic and/or transpacific flights can be better scheduled so to accomodate your fantasy fetish.

Much better when you don't try to hide your true objection by spinning a weak argument that Friday moves are a "free pass" for stupid owners. Glad you're telling us the real reason you're against it now.
