If you drafted A-Rod this is how far behind you are...

I just took my league as a sample and it gave me what I thought were some interesting numbers...

There were 12 hitters taken in round 2 of my draft along with 2 pitchers and A-Rod.

These are the averages of the 12 hitters taken in the A-rod round.

BA .270 Runs 14.92 HR's 3.58 RBI's 14.67 SB's 3.67

My draft didn't have any surprises in the first 3-4 rounds so there isn't a name that doesn't belong in there either.

This tells me two things right off the bat, most of the 2nd round players are off to a very slow start and IF he comes back on Friday and IF he produces like he can, watch out for the A-Rod owner in your league!

Here are a few guys that you could have easily plucked with a late round flier or even a free agent pick up early in the season to cover A-Rod's absence...

Inge .301-20-8-19-1

Scutaro .262-26-5-16-2

Branyan .320-17-7-15-1

Feliz .321-11-2-15-1

Blaylock .258-15-7-19-0

All of these guys are would have been sufficient if you have A-Rod.

Its a long season but these are the types of things that turn a team into a contender.

Me? I passed on him and took ManRam which is working out so far, but I would trade ManRam for Arod and any of these stiffs mentioned above! Especially considering the new Coors, er, Yankee Stadium!

I selected A-Rod in my on-line league in round 3. My offense has been hideous without A-Rod, but that's due mostly to players badly under performing (Teixeira, Soto, Rios, Ordonez, Chris Young, Furcal). If my other hitters were playing up to expectations, A-Rod would be entering the line-up of a first place club instead of a scuffling ninth place team.

I drafted Arod with the 18th pick in a 20 team league. I've never wanted the guy and have never owned him, but figured I would take a shot in a 20 teamer.

I drafted Chipper Jones as well.....figured with the 2, I could have the top 3B in fantasy. I also drafted Russell Branyan for some power....was hoping to get about 10 HR's from him before the return of Arod.

Now I will have a dilemma each week until injuries occur/Branyan loses his job......My CI/UT has 5 players for 4 positions. I get to figure out which guy to sit out of Arod, Chipper, Branyan, James Loney, and Mike Jacobs. Guess it will depend on if I want Singles during the week or Bombs!

My team is currently in 6th place out of 20...... I'm looking forward to getting Arod in my lineup to jump up to 1st place.

With the way the season has started, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see many teams doing well without a drafted Arod in their lineup.

Drafted A Rod 1st round in a Jan Slow Draft.

Sitting 2 pts out in 2nd place with essentially Lyle Overbay covering his spot.

Hopefully when he returns, he can provide 2.5 pts to push us over the top.

Team Cryan is trying to make a go of it. Team Eddie/Lance is making things difficult.

This of course all hinges on if and when Arod can return to being Arod with a surgically repaired hip. Who knows - he may actually be the guy who hit .250 in the second half for the Yankees last year without the PED's.
