"A source told Yahoo! Sports that the illegal substance for which Manny Ramirez tested positive is supposed to boost sexual drive.

Cue up the performance enhancing jokes. It's possible, if rumors of the source of the positive drug test are true, that the sexual enhancer could have been used to boost testosterone for those coming off a steroids cycle. "

Steroids will do that to you. Well at least I won my bet with a friend on Baseball players that did juice who haven't been caught. Manny, Nomar and few other surprises were on my list. :(
Winning is not everything, but the will to win is.

Ken Griffey Jr is the best pure hitter of the 90's hands down! It's amazing how he has been forgotten but the Kid is one of the greatest hitters of all time and not once has ever been mentioned in the same sentence as steroids.

My favorite player hands down! Actually, Griffey has been mentioned in the same sentence as steroids because of Griffey's phenomenal, almost incomprehensible fragility. I'm convinced Griffey was a juicer at some point, but I have no proof and I could be wrong.
While there is no definitive proof that Griffey juiced, the man hit 56 home runs in back to back seasons, soon after went into JD Drew-type fragility and certain annual DL stints, and played for years with Arod, Edgar Martinez, Jay Buhner and other suspects. I also admired Griffey for his amazing talent and pleasant personality, but the writing is on the wall.

Once Bonds broke the record, millions crossed their fingers and held their breath waiting for an allegedly clean Arod to one day own the record. Now that we know that steroids don't necessarily make your head grow insanely big, and that even realtively littler looking guys like Arod were guilty, no one is really safe from the spotlight.

If you had incredibly high home run totals in the 90's and early 00's or if you played at an unusually high level at an unusually old age, odds are you're guilty.

Not pointing fingers, just stating the obvious.

Anybody think Shawn Green juiced?

Will baseball have to build a new wing--Hall of Infamy--for the dozens of other players who fall into the PED category? Most hall voters won't vote for suspected steroid users- just look at McGwire. We'll likely see more of the same soon with Bagwell and Biggio. It wouldn't surprise me to not see any players elected from the steroid era outside of Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz and a small handful of others. Others will all have to wait, and maybe never get in.

I'm surprised to see Manny taking the excuse route. For it to have any credence, he'll have to provide the 'innocent' drug and documentation. I disagree with this. I understand in America you are innocent until proven guilty, but with the constant revelations pertaining to PEDs in MLB, if you played in the era and were among the best, you're suspect. The fact that Pujols is THAT good makes me THAT much more cynical. Of course he could naturally be one of the all-time greats...just like Arod.

Not to mention his name was leaked on an earlier report but later taken off. Where there is smoke there is often fire.

The reason Griffey has aways been thought to be clean. Is that according to scouts that I have talked with.He has never been a workout demon lift weights guy.

He was made a scapegoat, and was blackballed from MLB. You didn't see any "code of baseball" then. All the other MLB players turned a cold shoulder and let him hang alone.

He speaks the truth, rather than "keeping the code of the cheating locker room" and is vilified.

Ray Lewis keeps his mouth shut in a murder scenario and "keeps to the code" and is also vilified by many.

You can't win I guess.

In some situations...I love RATS!

There needs to be MORE RATS in locker rooms.

More RATS in politics and Congress.

More RATS everywhere to blow the whistle on all of these cheaters.

Cheating on wives, cheating the game, cheating us out of our rights and money, etc.

Funny how those pesky RATS never expose any good...only bad.

"Keep to the code" of f-ing people over, and our best friend is a RAT.

Keep to a code of ethics, and there would be no need for RATS.

Cheating on wives, cheating the game, cheating us out of our rights and money, etc. Not sure I agree with this, Lance. If you're gonna stand up and do right, best to do it up front. I suppose it's never too late for redemption, but with Canseco he practically started PEDs in MLB being the biggest star in the game and the first 40-40. He juiced his entire career and likely introduced dozens of others, maybe hundreds and fails to come clean or do the right thing until his career is officially over. Many believe he only came clean because he's got a vendetta toward MLB cause no one will sign him and give him another shot and outing everyone was his only big money making plan on the table.

We agree more honesty and integrity is needed in modern society, especially in politics and corporate america.
I think Jr’s career timeline more closely represents those of the sixties and seventies than the way Bonds’ and Palmerios’ did.

I think we have forgotten that players aren’t supposed to hit 35+ homers late into their 30’s and early 40’s

As far as Manny, that will hurt the Dodgers pretty bad, but he'll be back for playoffs and the West is weak.

As far as Manny playing next year - without a doubt Dirt Dogs. he has a $20M option with LA that he can exercise, so if no one gives him more, he can exercise that option...otherwise, he'd be looking at far less.

Pitchers should stick it in hitters ribs who they know are using, only most of them would be hypocrits.

As far as who's next - not sure, but just have a feeling we'll get at least another everyday player this year - maybe Big Papi or Pujols...Giambi isn't hitting, so maybe he tried again. Not sure, just hope not anyone I drafted! :D :D :D

What's the big deal, didn't Manny "miss" 50 games last season? Let's ask a sox fan if that's true. When he comes back he'll have a contract run tear just like in '08. The diff this year is that you can bench him for someone who WILL play those 50 games  :D
