Hmmm...maybe we need a Doughboys Top 10 List of Baseball platitudes.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Rollins went in the 2nd round!?!?! We went through this when I posted my team pre-season.....many of you thought I had a very good start getting Rollins, Tex, Alexie, & Youkilas with my first four picks (that was the order from the 13 hole)....

How are those picks looking today?

oh yeah, i remember now. WOW funny how what you thought was a lay up turned into a brick! Tex is a notorious slow starter so dont worry about him and I still think rollins will be fine. All it takes is a great week and they are back to where they should be.

I have owned Sizemore in the past so I know how streaky he is, but damm it's hard to take while you are going through it. Looking forward to the week where he lights up all categories. I knows its on the way.

You can win with pitching! I would rather have Johan Santana on my team than any other pitcher, but Top 5? Is he that much better right now or how much better, results-wise, will he be over the current leaderboard that you do not burn a top 5 pick on such as Grienke, Halladay, Haren, Billingsley....WANDY RODRIGUEZ?

You can win with pitching. You can also get pitching much later than those 30/30 players or those big bangers.

I would have taken Santana at 1.1 if I had the pick. Surest thing on the board. OK, I'll make an exception for AP. Gives you wins (good team), K's, ERA and WHIP, and doesn't get hurt. And does it year after year. The key is to avoid the first round land mine (Rollins - coming off a bad year. Texiera - switched leagues, big fat contract).

And one of the keys for YOUR TEAM would be to avoid the land mines in the 2ND RD since you're drafting a SP in Round 1.

I'm happy when someone takes Johan early. I've always had success drafting pitchers and feel my sp 2-7 will make up the difference against the team who drafted Johan.

That being said, I know some teams have had success in satellites drafting Johan early just not sure what the success rate is. And I have no idea how the Johan teams have done in the main.

RK - my second round pick was Sabathia. So far he's been ok but I need him to be better.
