Question to all NFBC participants in NY re: Mixed Auction League

Post by metsfan » Fri Jan 28, 2005 4:39 am

Hi,

I wanted to hear from those participating in the main event in NYC but that are not joining an auction league to let me know what is holding them back.

Is it the format, the cost, or something else entirely?

I would like for us to get enough people for a mixed league and if there is a change that can be made to entice people to join, based on everything positive I've read on the message boards to date, Greg would consider making changes.

Please let me know what changes, if any, could be made to entice you to play in this league.

Thanks everyone!!!!

Is it the format, the cost, or something else entirely? the only reason I havent committed yet is that I wish it started sooner. 2pm would be great. I dont know if any other tms plan on doing the NL or AL auction - it's possible there's a time conflict. But the 4pm start would end closer to 11pm where I wouldnt be getting home until at least 1am. Between then and coming back the next day I'd need my beauty sleep  and time to update my draft list based on that days spring training action. I may still enter but at 2pm I wouldnt hesitate.

Greg,

As 1 of the big 4 signed up for this event, I wouldn't mind changing the time and making it earlier. It doesn't seem like so far there is a conflict with anybody that wants to participate in the early draft.

The point about getting home and then turning around to come back for Saturday's Main Event may indeed be a hurdle for some. Unlike Vegas, most of the NY players will be commuting to home.

I just put my hat it the ring today with Greg for the Mixed NYC Auction League. He said I was the fifth player of 15 we needed to complete the league. I will also be competing in the main draft on Saturday. I live in New Jersey and I plan on going home Saturday night and coming back the following day. Its about an hour trip for me each way. I don't anticipate any problems with the 4pm start time or fatigue carry over into the following day. This League should be easy to fill without changing anything that is already set because its priced at the lower rate of $650 and its the most similar to the playing style of the main event that is going to get close to 300 members. I'm not worried and neither is Greg from talking with him.
