thanks Jeff. looking forward to it

top faab players this week were:

Hitter: Juan Rivera (esp with the uncertainty of T.Hunter at the faab deadline)

Pitcher: Jason Isringhausen (warming up for save opps). Looks like new closer in TB.

maybe i'll have a top faab for each position prepared for the show.

Gordon good luck on fantasy focus.I bid 41 on izzy in the ultimate and wasnt even the runner up bid.

I did get Tallet for 33 and 40 wasnt enough for Pinerho.I guess getting one out of three wasnt bad.

Look's like Iwamura might be out for the year.Look's like Zobrists fantasy value just keep's going up.He should be a full time player now and not many 2nd baseman or shortstops have his 20 home run power.

I drafted him in the 30th round in one draft. When it comes down to "closer by committee", they almost always end up giving the job to the reliever with closer experience. Considering Balfour kind of bombed in that role last year I felt Izzy had the best chance as a closer in waiting. Later I dropped him.

You'd think he'd be the front runner.

Hey Mark

Good Luck on the show and congrats Think I need to learn more patience I am your AAA affliate in FAAB. Had Hawkins Kawakami and Rivera of whoch all now play for you. Dropped Rivera based on Vlad coming back KK just got frustrated with and Hawkins I had prior to Valverde injury. Think Howell might be sleeper in mix based on being a lefyt might come in if situation dictates. Just an opinion It has been fun going against you this year

Mark,

Just don't bring up Joe Blanton. You want to sound like you know what you are talking about!

Have fun with it, and good luck! :D

good show indeed. for those who are in their first year in the main, definitely worth listening to the segment with GG. I'm in my 3rd year and, while I hate to say it takes at least a year or two of experience ($2600), it's true. I've done better every year including this year, a lot of it learned through the first 2 yrs in the main... getting back to the show, good 20-30 min to listen to while checking box scores tonight!

Great job Mark!

I wish you would have talked about Ross Detwiler. Most owners missed that one because they are scared off because of the walks.Watching him pitch Saturday with 3 pitches that graded out all above average. If he does hit, its a difference maker.

I feel the great and famous feature Hall of Fame owner Eddie Gillis! BANG! BANG!

Kell - Thanks. There were a number of players I wish I had time to touch on. Detwiler was one. Davey Price's walk rate in AAA was another.

Marty marty - players values sure change quickly.

i remember first seeing Kawakami dropped. my initial thursday bid amount was $100+. i read he was nibbling too much on the outside of the plate to start the year. hopefully he decides to pitch a little more inside. was a great control pitcher in Japan. K's are better than expected. he mighta had some early season disappointment due to playing musical catcher, i.e. mccann was out a while. after working all offseason mostly with mccann, it had to have been a slight shoch to then be working with ross so much. don't underestimate the language barrier as well.

i see you lead at the quarter poll. i'll try my best to be The Closer :D

I was a little disappointed.

Your message board persona did not come through well over the broadcast. Albeit tough, in that half an hour is little time for that persona to shine through, but still a little disappointing.

I did agree strongly with you about how it is not the skill set that makes a closer, THE closer, but the oppurtunity and how the Manager perceives a closer. But we've talked about this before ;)

If Maddon has stuck with Percival through his injuries and less than perfect skill set, it gives us every reason to believe that he will do the same with Izzy.

Disappointed in what way? I didn’t come right out and call the Mayberry owner a dufus? Or that I didn’t start a 10 minute debate on Joe Blanton?

If Jeff (or a caller, chatter, etc…) wanted to dispute something with me, at that point, you’d see a little more fire.

In addition, I wasn’t sure how long I’d be on (thought it was only going to be 15 minutes), so I was kinda rushing to get in all the info Jeff asked me to prep for.

Ha! You know what…it was pretty exciting prepping and doing the show. I gotta give thanks to Jeff for having me on.

I’ve always kicked around the idea of doing “something more” as it relates to fantasy baseball. I’ve love to do an NFBC FAAB show on Sunday afternoon from let’s say 4-5pm and help fellow owners out. Unfortunately, doing so would put ME at a distinct disadvantage for trying to pick up FAAB players.

I’m connected to many, many NFBC owners so I imagine I could get some great guests to debate with me on air. Add this to the list of things I’d love to do even though my free time is at an all-time low. We’ll see.

Good show, Jeff and Mark!

Hope you get called back, Mark. Free flowing, studied, informative.

If Maddon has stuck with Percival through his injuries and less than perfect skill set, it gives us every reason to believe that he will do the same with Izzy. Dan we usually agree on almost everything, but not here. I listened to it while I caught up on some stuff in the office Monday and enjoyed it. Mark is very knowledgeable and does not need a gimmick to make people listen and enjoy it.

On a serious note Mark did pretty much push me in to retirement from the nfbc yesterday. I see how much work he puts in and when you combine that with knowledge it makes me dead money ( I know there are more like him out there b/c I used to be that way too). My job and personal life has changed a lot in the last 5 years and I just do not have the passion like I used to. I am not going to retire Walla Walla style just yet. I have to assess whether with some harder work I would not have drafted Rollins, Papi, C Young, and Beltre or that I just stink. Either way this has been a great time and I have made some good friends.

To me, Gordon Gekko is at his best when arguing a point or trying to get across his points. Besides Jeff disagreeing with you over the Tampa closer situation, there was really nothing for you to sink your teeth in to.

I guess my point was that you came across like an "expert". Which is not a bad thing, but the world has millions of "experts" and only one Gordon Gekko.

I know others make fun of the thread, but I would like to hear you on Jeff's show with possibly another guest who doesen't share your view of Joe Blanton.

Or possibly, opposition such as FUDD, who thought before the year started that Alexie Ramirez would be last years Troy Tulowitzki.

I enjoyed the show, and that probably didn't come across in my earlier post. My bad.

But I did miss the persona as well. If asked back, I'd like to see Mark in a debate with another "expert", I think it would be highly entertaining as well as educational.
