Perfect Game

Post by Glenneration X » Thu Jul 23, 2009 10:16 am

Mark Buehrle threw a perfect game today.

He already had a no hitter under his belt.

Pretty amazing for a pitcher without dominating stuff.

The only negative is that I don't have him on any of my teams.

Glenn an amazing catch by wise to preserve it. a very underrated pitcher who has put up some really good and consistent numbers over the years in one of the league's toughest ballparks. add to the fact that he has to deal with the ridiculously insane ozzie guillen.. and im very impressed!

Conversation yesterday between Mark Buehrle and AJ Pierzynski:

AJ: (After just being told he's sitting tomorrow's (today) game)

Looks like it's you and your personal catcher tomorrow! (snickers)

Mark: lot of good hitters in that Tampa lineup.

AJ: Pisss on 'em. Go out and throw a no-hitter.

Mark (Laughing) I've done that before.

AJ: So, throw a perfect game then.

Mark (Laughing again) Yeah, right.

As related in an interview after the game.

I must have seen the replay of Wise's catch 20 times last night.

But the Chicago Suntimes has a series of photos of that catch this morning that are outstanding. There is still power in a photo.

I'm guessing Harvey Haddix held the record, but not sure.

What a feat if he pulls this off, consecutive perfect games....no other pitcher has ever thrown two in a career, let alone back to back.

Perfect game, then no-hitter broken up within 30 seconds of my post.....I guess I jinxed him.

Ahhh well, I'd rather the Twins win anyway since I have Scott Baker pitching for one of my teams....
