Congratulations to Jeff Meyer, whose Heels team in Phone League 1 topped the NFBC field last week with 3,243.5 points.
Big weeks from Manny Ramirez (.357-2-8), Stephen Drew (.500, 10 runs), Garrett Jones (.464-3-6) and Nick Markakis (.400-3-7) led the way at the plate. Leo Nunez fanned 10 with one win while Jordan Zimmerman and J.P. Howell combined for five saves to lead the pitching staff.
Congratulations again to Jeff and good luck to everyone in the NFBC this week.

Jeff Meyer Is Week 16 NFBC Winner
It hasn’t been an easy season for Jeff Meyer in the NFBC. Fourth-round pick Chris Davis failing to live up to expectations and Manny Ramirez losing 50 games to a drug suspension took the wind out of his team’s sails.
But last week, the stars were aligned for Meyer and shined a bright light upon his NFBC team.
Big weeks from Manny Ramirez (.357-2-8), Stephen Drew (.500, 10 runs), Garrett Jones (.464-3-6) and Nick Markakis (.400-3-7) led the way at the plate as Meyer’s Heels team in Phone League 1 topped the NFBC field last week with 3,243.5 points. Leo Nunez fanned 10 with one win while Jordan Zimmerman and J.P. Howell combined for five saves to lead the pitching staff.
“My draft strategy was to go heavy on the hitters early, and I took hitters in seven of the first eight round, and wait on pitching,” Meyer said. “I waited a bit on closers but I wish I had waited more as I drafted Carlos Marmol and Joel Hanhrahan in the 11th and 12th rounds and those two have contributed very little to my season.
“The fact I still managed to get six saves last week goes to show the volatility of closers.”
The 31-year-old Meyer is an attorney in Richmond, VA.

Nice week Jeff.
Thought I had a shot for the top spot last week - but came in forth.
I feel your pain with Chris Davis.
