I started him for a two start week awhile ago, I paid the price. I almost did it again and thankfully, had better options. Those of you who chose Suppan for his two-start week are probably praying for a rain out Sunday.
Washington had not scored 10 runs off of any one pitcher all year. In fact, it was only the ninth time that they've hit double figures at all this year.
Milwaukee has been touted for the easy schedule they have remaining. But starting the likes of Burns, Suppan, McClung, and now Villanueva...are they any better than their "lesser" competition?

The Brewers are toast. It's time for Melvin to become a seller and not a buyer. No reason for him to give up valuable pieces given how the playoffs appear to be a pipe dream. This team simply isn't good enough and one more starting pitcher - even if it was Halladay - isn't going to change that.
Time to start shopping Hart and Hardy and see if anyone's willing to give up a decent prospect for them.
And Suppan is nothing short of putrid. There is no excuse for him to be in the starting rotation. None. I don't care what he's being paid. You can find a guy at Triple-A who can come in and pitch that badly.

He was in trouble every inning leading up to the fifth. The Nationals were just being the Nationals.
I agree, Tom. Why these clubs let players play solely because of how much money they make is foolish.
The Jays are playing Kevin Millar while pleading poverty over Wells, Rios, and Halladay. The Reds play Alex Gonzalez when healthy for no other apparent reason than money. Bill Hall, Bobby Crosby, Nomar...would any of these guys still be in the Bigs, let alone playing if it weren't for their contracts?

Who amongst us hasn't activated that 2-start pitcher that the smarter part of us knew we shouldn't?
We've all sat there with the devil sitting on one shoulder whispering in our ear...."Start him, he might get you two starts and tons of K's!"
While the angel on our other shoulder would say...."You know better, he's not very good and will hurt your WHIP & ERA."
Yet we finally yield to our darker side when he whispers....."Why the &$%* even have him rostered if you won't even start him during a 2-start week?"
Thus we get the Suppan activations for some of us and for me....the Pavano activation.
Well at least I can take some solace in knowing I only started Pavano in 4 out of my 4 NFBC teams......sigh. Maybe he'll get injured before his next start.

Suppan is playing the oblique card.
Obliques are like the swine flu, they seem to be popping up all over.I'm going to call in sick with an oblique and see what the boss says. If he asks me where it is, I'm sunk.

MLB.com has Supe on the DL, hopefully STATS isn't asleep at the switch and we see that red DL designation soon. The clock is ticking.
