Live Ultimate and Super Draft Spot Selection Show

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Aug 20, 2009 11:14 am

Today in St. Louis at the Fanball.com offices, Tom and I picked the draft spots for our NFFC Ultimate and Super Leagues in front of a video camera. The guys are getting the coverage online now and will have it on the site shortly. I'll post the link to that footage soon.

This is just one example of where we're hopefully headed when it comes to some of the changes here at Fanball.com. We want folks to see how the KDS process works so well in football thanks to our Third Round Reversal and how easy it is to implement. Plus it was fun to show everyone one way that we randomly pick the draft spots for leagues that will reward almost $100,000 in total prizes.

Anyway, look for that soon and get ready for a baseball draft selection broadcast. This is just one way that we can have more fun with the things we've already created and bring video to the NFBC/NFFC.

Right now everyone can see video of the NFFC picking the Ultimate League Draft order at:

http://ownersedge.fanball.com/

Click on the NFFC logo and get ready for the presentation of this draft order. Enjoy all and we'll post the draft spots here in 10 minutes.

Again, this is something we just came up with this week during meetings in St. Louis. We have 6+ months to prepare for the baseball events and we already have some great ideas. Stay tuned as this video is just the start of things to come. Enjoy.

Great job and a fun watch. If this is a sign of things to come with Fanball, we are all going to be very happy with the improvements.

Hope you'll consider this format for the Main Event Leagues, will make for some great anticipation!

Nice work Greg. Maybe bring your catcher's mitt next time.

Greg I thought you were a good athlete. For goodness sakes you looked like Braylon Edwards pulling those balls out of the hat.

I thought this was tremendous and I would encourage you all to try it for all main event/super/ultimate leagues.

It would be heart wrenching to watch all your favorite spots going off the board, but make it more fun all at the same time.

Okay, how about this...

We get 15 guys together and assign them numbers 1-15. The guy with number 1 has to have as many shots as the preference received for the first name picked, second one drinks as many as the preference for the second name picked, etc.

Every time Greg drops a ball, EVERYONE drinks a Corona.

My Aunt Ruth recognized that ball dispenser. It was 1945, the war was over, and Bingo was hot. She and a fellow contestant yelled "Bingo!" at the same time. Their 'winnings' was a brand new 1945 ball dispenser. The man, a Mr. Ambrosius paid Aunt Ruth a couple of bucks for her half of the winnings and went home smiling, knowing the dispenser would be used for future family fun.

Moral of the story- A new ball dispenser may be in order, Greg.

I wonder if lotto's sell their outdated ping pong ball dispensers? :D

Hope you'll consider this format for the Main Event Leagues, will make for some great anticipation! Hah, you guys are all too funny. Giving me crap for bouncing one bingo ball!! :D In case you didn't watch the video closely, I nabbed that sucker on the first bounce and barely missed a beat announcing the name!! :D

This was a lot of fun and Ken is right, this was the first improvement during our first week together. In fact, this idea came out of a meeting on Wednesday with Ryan Houston and he felt it would be good to show our KDS process visually. We had the Ultimate and Super leagues full and credit cards run, so we went with the two highest profile leagues we had. And the KDS worked very well because draft preferences are ALL OVER THE BOARD in football this year. Great fun.

The editing with the names takes a lot of work and time, but that was the cool part as you saw folks slotted where they wanted. That's the part that would make it tough for all live events, but we'll put our heads together and in 8 months hopefully have it figured out for baseball.

We met last night about another nice enhancement that we think you folks will like in 2010. Fanball isn't holding any punches and they are going to be extremely aggressive in the baseball space. We are going to be bullish on baseball in 2010 and you folks are going to be the winners. More to come soon.

Just an FYI, the Super League draft announcement was just put on www.ownersedge.com. I think I bounced another ball there. Dan, we bought that machine for $50 30 minutes before we did this, so I didn't have time to practice!!! Those balls fly out of there pretty good, but I'll be fully practiced by baseball season!! :D

Greg, When you slot the owners name on the board behind you, why not in parenthesis after the name put what KDS pick it was. Then everyone can do the math for average pick. R.Z.

Dan and Kent, what satellites are you doing?
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I am doing the Online Championship on September 7th, so I have a little more time to prove my ineptitude.

I have done about as well in local fantasy football leagues as I do in baseball, and we all know how well that has translated into success for me here. I, too, am probably making a contribution. Still, I am really looking forward to it. It should be fun. Is Hershal Walker still playing? :D

I'm doing a $250 satelite September 2. I just started studying myself. My fantasy life began with a John Elway pick and I didn't do baseball till the internet came into play. Like Kent and Wayne, my expectations are pretty low.

Maybe next year we can all get in the same league. :D

I have been in baseball leagues since 1990 but fantasy football has never really been my thing. I have been in a few leagues, but generally as nothing more than a silent partner/money man. The online championship gives me a chance to get my feet wet without hurting my pocket too much. I'm most likly dead money in this event, but I will give it my best shot

SD and Dallas That's a good start Kent. Obviously if Bryant can recover and be a force again, then you're golden. You've got two solid RBs and a little depth there, and you have a pretty solid WR corps. You need a kicker, but otherwise I like it. :D
