1. Will there be a speaker in New York that evening?
2. Who is "hosting" in New York?
3. Who will give me the real low-down on that "dead" team because Greg will be almost 3000 miles away? I feel I was promised that way back last year when I brought that team to everyone's attention.

Bradley went for $990+ in the NL only auction league last year. The team that acquired him was left with less than $10 to bid on players for the entire season.

I heard a rumor that some of the major sites that CBS and ESPN will be up and running by the end of the day and some other major sites such as USA TODay and TSN wont have fantasy baseball The Sporting News.

2. Rocky Landsverk will be running the show in NY.

seefer - really - I didn't know that but like I said, I didn't do either of those leagues. Interesting.

Tom, who do you think will go for the most $$ in the AL only auction and the NL only auction?
Hump Day Chat Has Begun
Oh, and who will go for the most $$ in the mixed league auctions?

In the AL I'd guess it will be either ARod or Guerrero. In the NL, I think it'll be either Beltran or Pujols.

Same cast of characters for the mixed. I think it'll be real interesting to see the different dollar amounts paid for players in the AL/NL auctions and the Mixed. That's going to make for some interesting discussion.

1. Will the room arrangements be similar to last year?
2. Are breaks going to occur after rounds 10 & 20?
3. When will the combined NY & Chicago team counts exceed Las vegas? It has been a very close race all season?
4. Could you place an "*" next to returning owner (or new owners if that is easier)? It would be nice to see who is new and who is returning in each city.

Just a heads up on a totally different topic:
"Mr. 3000" was a really really bad movie. In terms of baseball movies it was right down there with "For the Love of the Game".

Spreading those rumors isn't good journalism. I doubt anyone will be up before the 15th, but you can prove me wrong. It's obvious USA Today was denied a license, which is one reason why CDM Fantasy Sports filed suit. TSN ran all of the games on MLB.com last year and they already have a working deal for 2005 on MLB.com.

It starts with the guy calling the morning of the draft and telling us his daughter was hit by a car and he was at the hospital. He couldn't make it to the draft but desperately wanted to run the team if someone else could draft it for him. Whether that was the truth or not, we haven't verified yet. But everything else after that wasn't the truth so I have my suspicions!
As you can imagine, everything about this guy failed to pan out and by the time we said "enough is enough" we were into the season and it wasn't fair to just "sell" that team to someone else or bring someone else in to run. So it stayed on autopilot and still did very well.

Greg/Tom,
For the mixed auction leagues, do you think players will go for more or less money than in individual leagues?
The amount of avail. money is more but the talent pool is much deeper. Very interesting. And confusing since I'll be doing the NL in the morning and the mixed at night.

seefer, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the top players went for more because there will be quality players you can find for good values later on. We'll see if that's how it plays out.

2. That will be an approximate time for when we'll have the breaks.
3. Hard to say but hopefully we'll get a strong rush in these final few weeks in NY and Chicago.
4. We'll look into that.

thinking it is just seefer and me here right now.
1. When will the Friday registrations start in New York? I'm driving up from Norhtern Virginia that morning and won't be all that early be just curious.
2. To save me the time to search on the site, what is the Friday schedule as far as auction league's drafting and other events?

viper, the schedule of events in each city can be found on the main NFBC Web site. Just click on the appropriate city and everything will be there.

pardon my yuch but the welcome reception at 11:30 followed by a guest speaker with the draft at 1:00. I know last year it took 15-20 minutes just to have the coordinators set things up and get everyone in place. I got to the room about noon just to get my area set up and to talk to other league mates. At least we will have "reserved" seats for the chat session. I like the fact that there was something the night before last year.
It would be nice if we could register on Friday. The line at 11:00 may be a bit long. I see the other cities have registrations on Friday.

viper, we had this format for the football event and it went great. I can understand how you liked the night-before event we had last year, but you'll be happy with how this unfolds on Saturday. I guarantee it.

Hey Guys...Just got caught up on the 7 pages...
I'm curious as to what it is that makes people want to play in AL only or NL only leagues.
I understand the strategies of the auction-styled drafts...but can't think of a reason whay you wouldn't want the entire pool of players to draft from. (Other than super-depth...and thus the more prepared has the advantage.)
...old old-school drafters who don't like the DH.

That's a mistake viper. We'll get that changed. We'll have registration available in all three cities on Friday.
