I do know that would never happen, but who knows...where is Gekko when you need him. as long as a team is trying to improve their standing, that's all fair in the game.
if a team pulled a "fandango" (dump his starters to have another team do better without concern for his own team doing better), i have a problem with that. even with that said, i had the "classic" fandango case happen to me and there was ABSOLUTELY NO REMEDY FOR ME. hopefully fandango gets the boot though.

Greg, apologies if you already answered these questions. I pooped out after about page 8.
1. If Doughy is right and you get 500 teams (even hypothetically), will there be a corresponding rise in the league or overall payout?
2. Location is a big deal to me. I am not too jazzed about planning an extra hour on draft morning for a bus ride to Mandalay Bay. I love Flamingo for its location and of course the first week isn't the best option in terms of competitive advantage. Anyway, when can we expect an announcement about the week two location?

If multiple entries helps with the overall picture and if multiple weekends helps with the overall picture, I am all for it.
It's a year, if it doesen't work out, I trust in Greg to do the right thing next year. Correct, we had 375 teams in 2007, 390 in 2008 and 390 in 2009. We've had growth in other areas of the NFBC, but the main event has gone from 300 in 2005 to 390 in five years. We can do better.
The more obvious complaint suddenly has been that the main event "feel" will be ruined by this decision. Earlier it was about multiple teams. So the discussion has been good and helpful.

It's a year, if it doesen't work out, I trust in Greg to do the right thing next year. No growth, but also no loss of number of teams....in the worst economy in the US in how long? For high $$ fantasy baseball? Man, staying at 390 was a huge shock to me and I thought an excellent indication on how good this game is. I wouldn't consider same number of teams for a $1300 event in this economy to be no growth....An absolutely amazing result in you ask me.

Greg - why do all of the main event drafts on Saturday need to start at the same time?
why not start them all at 10am local time? then you could have a second Saturday main event beginning at 4 or 5 pm.

If we wanted multiple main events on the same weekend, we'd host them on Friday and Saturday. But we want to build the main event and build the auction championship. Not only that, but next Monday we'll announce our plans for the Online Championship, which has a very interesting new twist. Stay tuned for that one.
Don't get mad at us, but you can have multiple teams in the OC again. And you can win a lot more money there, too.

Change is tough, but I think we all need to keep an open mind and have faith in Greg/Tom. Times are tough in business and you have to adapt and that is what they are trying to do adapt/improve. This debate is healthy though.

Not a level playing field, huh ... can someone please describe one instance in which someone drafting late (or early) has some sort of edge that makes the playing field uneven? [/QUOTE]Kevin I usually agree with you arod's injury last year would be the perfect example. You could probably argue the injury was announced closer to opening day than that, but you get the point.

But if A-Rod carries the Yanks to the 2nd round of the playoffs, then gets hurt before the next series starts - can the Twins say they belong in the World Series over the Sox or Angels since the playing field wasn't level for their series? Of course not. It's just a bad argument.

I will have faith in GA and the game and have worked a deal with my boss to get clear for the 26-27 Mar weekend if that's the end result.
My wife is happy that I will be home for her birthday instead of OFO in Vegas.....so GA, you got me out of a doghouse as you slipped into one tonight.
I agree with Kenny (Sack) on the feel for the event. The majesty of walking into a room full of fanatics all looking at the big white boards and stickers and digesting the other teams in the leagues during every break is what makes the main event special.
I will miss the opening March Madness games which on 2 of 5 years funded my Vegas trips (love those parley cards). It's a great time to CATCH up with friends that I often don't see but once a year.
So I guess for emotional and not rational reasons, I favor the one day event. The date to me is insignificant...as long as we don't lose the impact.

People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

And, there will be instances of the above in reverse. There will be hot rookies and guys that win jobs who will be taken earlier in the late drafts than in the early drafts. It all evens out from the league perspective.
What it comes down to is would you rather a) take on less injury and job certainty risk by drafting late, or b) take on more risk with a greater chance of getting players at value by drafting early. It's really no different than having KDS for draft slots - choice is good, pick your poison. Amen, amen, amen. Great post. Agree 100%
