2010 NFBC Draft Dates and Locations Revealed

Post by King of Queens » Sat Oct 10, 2009 6:40 am

I think the biggest problem that people have with the multiple dates is the perception that an NFBC Championship can be bought. Here's my suggestion: make it so Principal Ownership is limited to **ONE** NFBC Main Event franchise, regardless of draft date. Owners would be free to co-manage multiple teams on the different draft weekends, but the glory of being NFBC Champion would go to one of 405+ unique individuals.

Problem solved?

Hello Greg,

It's obvious from this post and a few others that you are feeling a bit defensive and bombarded here.

There's one other way I think you should feel....

Very, very proud.

To create a contest that so many feel so strongly about is quite an achievement. Look at the criticisms and reluctance to change as a testiment to how much we love the NFBC, your baby.

I mean how many really cared that the FFOC changed its format this year?

The reason we even bother to comment on the changes to the NFBC is because it has become a part of our lives that we care about and plan around.... and we have you to thank for that.

That said, stop screwing up!!!! J/K.... ;)

Glenn
Thanks for the post. I appreciate the positives and the humor!! :D

You are totally right about the passion and that's why I think this debate is positive. Maybe there is a right solution after all to keep EVERYONE happy. Seriously. We'll see, but I have some ideas.

Problem solved? To offer a further solution- hey we need to get to 405 guys. If we can do it with single entries great and I will give you all a chance to do it. By this date if we are at this many teams and trending to 405 we will not open it up. If we are not then we have to do what we have to do? Is there some risk in it sure/ b/c you have to make the date of decision one that allows people to make additional travel plans. Greg- thoughts?

speaking only for myself. These are my concerns.

1.Level playing field. The main event should in my opinion start the same day at the same time for all teams.

2.There is no way the drafts from the first week will be kept secret. While they will not be kept secret only some players will have the info.So some of the clicks will have a heads up.

I do not like the idea of multiple teams. You can sign up a second team under co managers name/wifes name /kids name etc.To use a name everyone knows if I draw a league with Shawn I can live with it.If I draw a league with Shawns' poodle and Shawn has 6 teams I am a little annoyed.

Now let me add this.I trust Greg. These words are not to be taken lightly. In this day I do not give my trust so easily.I always feel he has the best interest of the players and the contest at heart. When you deal with this many people you can not please everyone all the time.I do not expect Greg to always do things the way I would. But,I have learned he will always try to be fair.If this is the path chosen for the contest I am still in.We can talk about it further in Vegas Because,I will be there.
Would this make most folks happy or as Dave says above would it still be a problem?? I'm trying to consider the options, but each one seems to have a critic. That being said, Glenn seems to be addressing the biggest concern of most on this thread and our goal is 405 teams, as we've stated.

we DO do it a little different in kentucky..if coach Cal screws the pooch..he'll be bound, gagged, wrapped up in U/G curtain material, in the back of a 1979 f100 and on the way to central appalachia probably never heard from again.

but in reality..he could be GOD in KY. for as long as he wants.

i'm sure this makes no sense to anybody else, but to put it in perspective...more people in KY. know the name of the head BB and FB coach,,,,than the name of the Governor....
Greg- first listen well to your customers- I think you do other parties have some convincing to do. 2nd do what you think is best. If your goal is to lead you are the man for it. If your goal is to silence the critics then you are going to be disapppointed.

Dave, you are among the most honest, straight shooting guys we have in the NFBC and I take everything you say as your word. I appreciate the trust you have in us. I know the new concept isn't sitting well with you, but all you're asking for is the fairest possible contest and we want to deliver that. We will work through this and figure out the right plan.

I'm happy with the way Pastner has started with the recruiting but despite what some people think, we consider ourselves a national power also here at the U of M. Cal left for a better conference, I get that. But he was a God here in Memphis and could have won 30+ games for the next 15 years here, along with a possible National title. But not everything was on the up-and-up and that's the reason Cal won't show his face here any time soon.

I realize Kentucky fans are great but we think Tiger fans are, too.

you need to go to a UK game at Rupp Arena. there's few things in sports that can match the atmosphere.

Glenn I would like to thank Joe Blanton for his support this year. He was well worth the $7 investment. And a special thanks to Charlie for dropping him!

Is Cochlan next year's Ben Zobrist? Any chance he plays at second base next year?
