I for one have always wondered why in all or most high stakes events 3rd place only gets there money back at best? We were one bad week, 4rbi, 1 win, 2 sb and 4 saves from second place and we get our money back? while the other guy triples their load? Throw 3rd place a bone cause 1 K could decide who gets fruit cake at Christmas and the other gets chocolate cake. Just my two cents, but I have always been more about higher league payouts.

Craig, that's not been the case in the NFBC and NFFC Ultimate and Super Leagues. For the Ultimate, we pay $7,500 for third on a $5,000 entry and $3,750 in the Super for a $2,500 entry. We have always had those payouts.
With overall prizes, something has to give to get us the big grand prize and third place is one of those places. Heck, when we first had the NFBC I think third was $750. So we've increased that $500 since we started, much to the chagrin of some who think it's too high. But we try to at least come close to giving your money back for third place there and I've always had folks make money in the Super and Ultimate for third place. I think the plan is to remain that way for 2010 in those two events.

15 Teams - Mixed Format I can't speak for everyone, but I know a few of us would rather have a pay out like this for that investment:
1st $75,000
2nd $35,000
3rd $20,000
4th $10,000
The $100,000 on top is nice, but I think keeping one more team profitable and one more team breaking even goes a long way.
By paying 4th in this type of league, there will be a few more teams that feel they have a shot at breaking even late in the year.

When you are ponying up that kind of cash, making just one more person "happy" makes a bug difference.

15 Teams - Mixed Format I wonder if Lance thinks Greg making 10 grand off of this is too much?
Great idea- although I hope the term invitational does not mean what I think it does.
Shawn's idea is great. The 100k is cool for marketing purposes, but do you really market something like that. You either have the greenbacks, the desire, and the balls to do it or you do not.

If I can bring along Neal, Andy, or Dan as partners then I am much more likely. Much more likely to join if 4th gets money.

I'll admit that Ryan wanted to pay four spots and Tom and I disagreed. Blame us for this one. $75,000 is on par with our 8:1 payouts to first place in the Ultimate League and Super League, and paying down four spots with an entry fee this high makes sense to all of us.
Let's go with this prize pool and begin the signups.

15 Teams - Mixed Format When is this draft? [/QUOTE]That's a good question. We wanted to talk this through with the interested participants. I think we'll have the Ultimate Draft and Auction League on Sunday, March 28th when most folks will be in LV, NY and Chicago for the main events. Same with the Supers.
So what would work best for this? Sunday, March 21st??? The biggest prize pool two weeks before Opening Day??? Is that crazy or okay? How about a special Opening Weekend gathering??
Hey, begin the conversation because this group is likely planning to get involved in the Ultimates, mains, Auction Championships, etc. So we're open to ideas to make this work for everyone without taxing everyone on one day (two biggees on one day, for instance). I'm fine with Sunday, March 28th if that wins the vote.
But whenever we host this, trust me, Ryan has a special location, goodies, drinks, etc., planned for our participants.
This won't be held in a simple ballroom, I know that.

Why don't we have it on Saturday at 10pm during Ryan E. Houston's Exclusive VIP Party?
