Events Fees In 2010 For NFBC

Post by JamesH » Mon Oct 19, 2009 8:23 am

I've drafted the NFBC at Chicago for the past 2 years and I haven't heard a sole complain about food choices. I'm not sure what these NFFC complainers expect. We're there to draft a fantasy team, not eat dinner or get wasted. Chips and dip are fine. I think the vast majority feels that way. We just don't complain about it so you don't hear from us. Greg, I think you are making a huge mistake by increasing the price of an already expensive event. It's already a stretch for me to split a team. The Bellagio is totally unnecessary and seems to be the reason why the your costs are increasing.

Pardon my sarcasm but are the conference/draft rooms at Bellagio THAT much better than the draft rooms at the Flamingo? I understand that we have the chance to draft at THE BELLAGIO but unless it's going to make me smarter (it's not) what's the difference?

I speak for only myself but last year I participated in the NFBC Main Event because I got to see old friends and got to draft a roto team. Whether that happens at Bellagio or Flamingo makes no difference to me. I surely don't want to pay more to draft some place over another.

The "party atmosphere" is in the relationships we've built and the draft itself, not in our surroundings. I may be completely in the minority but the first weekend is sounding better every day.

I get that some people will get very excited to have the opportunity to draft at Bellagio. The good thing is that we sort of have a choice if we want to draft fancy or draft like regular folk.

Nothing peeves me more than seeing my Doritos package shrunken by a couple of ounces, yet priced more.

I'll bet the cost to make those Doritos have gone up, I don't care, it still peeves me to no end. But you know what? I still buy 'em. Not as much, but I still buy 'em.

When the NFBC raised prices from $1250 to $1300, I had the same Doritos feeling, now that it is going from $1300 to $1350, I get the same feeling again.

It is part of being an American. We are a capitalist society, but we sure as Hell are going to complain when higher prices effect our wallets.

Unlike Doritos though, we are getting something for our extra money that we can see, drink, and taste. And, also, unlike Doritos, we are getting more for our bucks, not less.

well

i've read this whole thread. i've deduced that greg and Co. are attempting to make this a "better" event for all those that participate in Vegas. "If" i decided to participate in Vegas next year, i'm sure that $50 would go to good use.

i drafted in Chicago last year in the NFBC. i also drafted in Chicago this year in the NFFC. My wife and i spent $50 at Gibson's for lunch between the Main and Primetime at the NFFC.

to me, i think the biggest concern COULD be for the non VEGAS drafters. afterall, people go to Vegas for more than the draft. need i say more???

i would have ZERO problem if an "extra charge" is added to my entry fee for Chicago as long as i can fill my belly before, between, and after drafts.

now, if he'll just get us out of the D. Stephens Center,,,life would be good. :D :D

I've seen two post that took my post out of line.

One I did not post the Ted Kennedy remark. That was Lance. Good one Lance! The post I was pointing to would be the nude shot of Dan eating

chips. Some day I might have a Grandchild who will come across this and say Grandpa wasn't that your friend back in the day. I'll have to answer yes that was Dan.

By the way, John. I don't agree that the picture is out of line.

She's naked, sure, but it is like it doesen't count.

Sort of like in a National Geographic type way. :D
