Vega$, Why do you say all FA pick-ups go to the bench? You can plug in your FA in to the line-up for the next week the way I read the rules. There is no reason to bench him other then between the time you pick him up and when the next weeks line-up is effective.

What I'm saying is you have to be online between WW and lineup deadline in order to put him in your starting lneup. I think the time being proposed is not enough time between the 2. That's all. If you can't get online between Sunday night/monday morning, then the player you picked up will remain on your bench.

I think you can add free agents directly to your starting lineup Phil, it just would not take effect till the roster moves on Monday.
Here's how it works.
Ken Griffey Jr. your starting outfielder gets hurt on Tuesday of the first week and is lost for the season. You bid on six different outfielders to take his place on Wednesday, each one prioritised and conditional upon whether the first priority bid was successful.
Such as purchase Rocky Colovito for $14 and waive Gimpy Jr.
On Sunday when waivers clear Rocky goes into Griffey's spot even though it won't take effect till Monday roster moves. You end up with Rocky as your starting outfielder for the second week even though you haven't touched your computer since Wednesday.
At least that's the way I read it and I believe that's how it worked last year.

I believe last year that all FAs went to bench and you were left with a blank in your starting lineup if you dropped a starting player. I believe I did that last year (drop a starting player) and I had 7 on the bench until I went in and and put a player in the blank space in my starting lineup.

Greg,
Was a decision ever made on the FA deadline, or is it still under consideration?

When Should FAAB Deadline Be?
I have proposed the 7 p.m. EST Sunday FAAB deadline to STATS and the 1 p.m. EST lineup change on Monday and am waiting back to hear from them. Making sure we have customer support for the FAAB bids on a Sunday is the concern and those may have to be entered earlier than the online deadline. But I'm awaiting their word on those proposed times. I know that's a tighter timeline for entering the new players you get, but maybe we can work with STATS to get that done electronically as well. They're working on a lot of projects right now, so I'll let you know when they can finish this one.

When Should FAAB Deadline Be?
Greg,
I agree with alot of what is said here but I notice for the most part the commenters are either on east coast or Central time zones. A noon east coast time is a 9:00AM west coast giving the east a definite advantage....further the times suggested for Sunday have the same problems meaning we could have a 5:30 sunday game in San Fran and have to make our picks before the game is over or before it has begun. THerefore I would suggest the same times 8 and noon but use mountain time as this creates a one hour difference for central and west coast and only a 2 hour difference for east coast.
Good Drafting all
Mark

Fresno, I see your point about the eastcoasters getting through lunchtime on Monday to set lineups, while the westcoasters have to get to the computer before 10 a.m.
However, if the time were switched to noon Cali time, that would be 3 p.m. in the east. Problem there: some games start before that deadline. That's why the deadline has to be earlier on Mondays.
As for the time on Sunday, it'll be the same for everybody. If it's 5:00 p.m. in the west and a game hasn't completed, it's 8:00 p.m. in the east, and that same game is at the same stage of completion in the east at deadline time. Injuries in the Sunday Night Baseball games will be equally unknown to eastcoasters and westcoasters at deadline time Sunday night.

I just re-read that and realized that Fresno wasn't suggesting Cali time, but rather Mountain time.
2 p.m. Eastern on Mondays is still too late, however, as Monday afternoon "get-away" games start early some weeks.

Mark, I am leaning toward the 6 p.m. CST Sunday deadline for FAAB bids because for the most part all of the weekend games will be done by then with the exception of the one or two ESPN Sunday night games being played. We will all have to take our chances on injuries in that game or games (ESPN sometimes has two, but not always) and hope for the best. Then I chose the Noon CST deadline for lineups due to give everyone enough time to see which free agents they acquired and enter them into their lineups one hour before any early games for that week. It's possible we could make that deadline more convenient as STATS has said they can program it so that it's one hour before the first game each Monday. We'll discuss that later, but for now the FAAB bid deadline is the one I need to finalize and I'm leaning toward 7 p.m. EST on Sunday, 6 p.m. CST, 5 p.m. MST and 4 p.m. PST. Hope this explanation helps.

I can't believe someone noticed that!!! This thing keeps me awake at night and sometimes you just wake up and feel like you have to check for new signups. I was glad to see one on the board at 3 a.m. and felt it would be worth it to stay awake and answer questions on the Message Boards. After March 20, I have promised my family that I will sleep much, much better. Thanks man.

Have the free agent bids been processed and players distributed? If not, does anyone know when this is expected to occur?

The NFBC FAAB bids are being processed right now. Each week that information should be available to all owners within 30 minutes or so. Give us a little more time this first week as we make sure everything is done correctly. They should be listed shortly.

When Should FAAB Deadline Be?
Hey Mr. Ambrosius,
It's 7pm Central and my free agents are still sitting, waiting to be processed.
I see from your post above that the league free agents are being currently processed....understandable working a new system....
it looks like I could still alter my free agent list, an hour past the deadline ( because it isn't processed yet, and it's sitting right in front of me.
Is there not a lock in place to stop free agent alterations after 6:00 pm Central ?
Thanks for your patience and understanding.

It was supposed to be shut down shortly after 7 p.m. EST. There shouldn't be any first time problems with this at all, as this doesn't seem too difficult, but obviously I'm wrong. Let me check with Jim real quickly.

Same here, 7:16 central and it still appears I could make all the free agent changes I wanted and my requests are still sitting there.

I have been told that it was shut off more than an hour ago. In fact, all of the bids were processed just after 7:00 EST and will be announced. I will have to talk with STATS about what happens after the process is closed because it should just lock you out until Monday, but they have assured me that it definitely closed for this week just after 7 p.m. EST.

when we shutoff bids we did it on the page where you select a player to drop, so if you are using the "Add Player" links as your indicator they're not telling the whole story.

Jim, I submitted a bid for a player which somehow was not recorded in the NYC AL Auction League. I am certain the entry was made before 7pm, and I check to see it was on the screen.
Can you please confirm this?
