$1,300 Mixed League Auction In New York Is Now Full
We had a strong response to our two separate auction leagues in Las Vegas so we wanted to turn our attention to New York and see if there would be interest in a $1,300 Mixed League Auction at Citifield. If we were able to do this, we could do it on Friday, March 26th at 4 p.m. EST or 10 a.m. EST. That way, if people wanted to be in the Auction Championship and do this they'd have the option to do both on the same day.
Are there 15 people who'd be interested in signing up for this league? If so, post your interest here, including your full name and which time you'd prefer, or email me at
and we'll see if we can make this league happen.

Sign me up. Typically 8-10 of the same owners return each year for this one so I'm sure we can get it filled. I prefer 4PM and would want to try to enter the auction championship as well. I imagine the auction championship would have to begin at 10AM to make this possible. Thanks

Thanks guys. We have the auction championship scheduled for 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. EST on Friday. So if folks wanted to do that and this league they have the opportunity to do so. Personally, I think that's a terrific idea.

Some of this prize money must go towards the overall grand prize because our goal this year is to honor the best auction player in the industry. We can use the additional league entry fees to spruce up the league prizes here and that's fine. But this is not just a private league like we've had in the past.
So, to answer Gekko's question again here:
[/qb]
greg - what would the league prizes look like if we filled the $1,250 mixed auction? [/QB]
Yeah, it would be $1300 like last year, which means we'd still have $800 of this going to the Auction Championship pool and everyone in this league would be eligible for the $15,000 grand prize. We'd use the remaining $5,625 ($500 more per team = $7,500 x 75% = $5,625) to spruce up the league prizes.
Using the same percentage of payouts, the $1300 Mixed Auction Championship could have league prizes of:
1st: $6,700
2nd: $3,800
3rd: $1,500
And you'd still be eligible for the $15,000 overall grand prize. Events fees and co-managers fees would remain the same since the costs at Citi Field for food and beverage remain the same. Sound good?

$1,300 Mixed League Auction In New York Is Now Full
Last year the league prize for first place in the Mixed $1300 Auction League was $9,400. But again, in the current format you can win $6,700 and have a shot at an additional $15,000. With a projected 10 leagues, there's a good chance that any league champion will win additional overall prize money. Here is the overall prize payout:
1st $15,000
2nd $3,750
3rd $2,000
4th $1,500
5th $1,000
6th $800
7th $800
8th $800
9th $800
10th $800
We can do this at the Bellagio too if folks are interested, but I do know that New York has had this "rival" league for a few years now and would like to keep this going.
As for randomly picking leagues in this format, yeah, we'd love to do that for every city. But in most cases we will just have one league in cities like Chicago or Atlantic City, so there is no randomness there. I have no problem if there is just one $1300 Mixed Auction League in New York either because the competition will be as fierce as any other league in this Auction Championship.
Hope this helps explain things better. I like the idea of Tom pushing the $1300 Auction Championship because he knows the interest is there, but it has to be part of the Auction Championship to be done. Thanks.

Greg,
I strongly disagree with more "fantasy welfare". last year the payouts were:
New York $1,300 Mixed Auction
1 Mark Srebro York PA $9,400
2 Ken O'Brien Virginia Beach VA $3,500
3 Chris Throop New York NY $1,725
now this year, you are chopping 1st place by a whopping $2,700.
2nd place only gets cut a mere $300 and 3rd place gets cut a mere $225. Why is 1st place getting rubbed out so much. please reconsider the payouts.
something like this falls in line with the %'s as last year (minus the money going to the overall auction championship)
1st $7,600
2nd $2,800
3rd $1,400

It's your additional $5,700 to play with. No worries. Get the league together and we'll pay out the additional league prizes as you all see fit. Works for me.

btw, did you ask any of the current NY signups if they wanted to switch from the $800 to the $1,300? i wouldn't want them to be left out if they didn't come on the MB and see there is a $1,300 league.

All,
I miseed this thread, thanks Gekko for pointing it out to me!
Count RT Davis and I (chris throop) in again.
Thanks for hosting it this way.
And while I often agree with Gekko, I like Greg's format a little better in that when you have a league that is decided by 1-3 points, it feels like 1-2-3 should be slightly closer together in terms of prize money but I will go with the majority vote on this
Looking forward to seeing RSN, Gekko and the rest of the gang!

Right now it depends on how the rest my schedule plays out for these two weekends, but I'm considering switching my auction from the first Friday in AC to this $1300 option. Seems like this draft may be a lot of fun.
As long as spots remain open, I'll try to finalize my decision in the next week or so.

Glenn glenn, not only will this league be the most fun of any this year, you will get a sneak peek (before the main event) on the players i like
hopefully you can make it.

as for the league payouts, if you win this league, you will be complaining how little you got. just take a look at the reduction in first place money from last year.
anyways, good to have you on board!

I agree with you Gekko this is a very fun league and to RSN's point, where is Fandango? It would'nt be the same without him and his antics.
I can't wait till next year when a) I am not buying a house b) the economy is better and c) a new baby is coming so I can up my game to the Super or higher Auctions! When that happens, I will have to harrass Gekko, RSN and the rest to come with !!!
But that is for next year's dreams. this year I expect to be dead money and lose badly but will enjoy along the way...

anyways, good to have you on board!
Yahoo, a hospital with WIFI. Thanks all for the best wishes, mom and little Jason Conner Throop are doing well and I am already reading him baseball stories

OK, we have four owners in for this league. We still have some work to do but plenty of time to figure it out. I'll continue reaching out to folks to see if we can drum up interest. This will definitely be a lot of fun so if you're interested in another great auction in New York, this is a great league to jump into.
