KDS Deadline For Diamond League: March 3rd

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Feb 08, 2010 2:57 am

Okay, it's time to start making plans for payments and draft spots in some of our private leagues. We'll start with the top of the tops as far as prizes and entry fees are concerned and begin to make plans for the NFBC Diamond League.

This debut event will be held on Sunday, March 28th at 10 am in the Bellagio. We may have a special suite for this draft or at the very least a very special conference room. This is going to be a sweet setup and a lot of fun. Cost is $10,000 per team and we are paying four spots, including $75,000 for first place.

We are asking all participants to pay for this league via check and I'll send a separate invoice to each participant today via email. This not only helps us provide the high payout because we're avoiding the big credit card processing fees, but it also makes each owner eligible for the free Fantasy Sports Insurance policy on one player. So this is a win-win for everyone involved.

Okay, we'll pick the draft spots when all spots are secure and payments are concluded. I know everyone is excited to get their draft spots, but my thought was that we didn't want to pick this too early since KDS could be affected by some February news. But this is definitely going to be the first league that we announce the draft picks and there is no doubt that we will videotape the announcement of the Diamond League draft order and post it for all to see. So let's get this rolling.

I'll let you guys decide how soon you want to pick the draft order. I know I'll be back in St. Louis on March 2nd and could pick the spots then. If that's too long, then we could shoot for the Week of Feb. 21st. Or Even Feb. 17th. You guys decide; this is YOUR LEAGUE!!

We have 15 owners confirmed now with James Stanard replacing Kevin Schiller today. Look for your invoices today and payment plans and then let's get this rolling. Post your thoughts on this thread and we'll act accordingly. Here is the final lineup card:

I have no preference on the draft slot announcements -- there are benefits to both early and late.

One request: please dust off the bingo machine for this one! :D

Okay, please have your KDS preferences set by Tuesday afternoon as this should be the first league we pick draft spots for. I'll email the group as well to remind everyone, but please take the time to set your KDS preferences for us this week. Thanks all.

Are you ready to see some draft spots? :D LET THE SEASON BEGIN!!

Greg,

Rumors are, that the Bingo Machine has been put in moth balls due to bad hands.

True?
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

True? The bingo machine is a MUST!!! The only question is, who will assist Greg in St. Louis?

Will it be Bachelor Number 1?

Bachelor Number 2?

Or Bachelor Number 3?

True? It's in Ryan's office, but we have since automated the random and KDS process on the site. It's less visual stunning, but easier to run with no chance for a human error. That being said, someone should get the tape of the NFFC footage and show that I actually had GREAT hands in catching the ball. The QB (Bingo machine) threw the ball before I made my cut, but in one bounce off the table I scooped up the ball and threw the runner out at first. It was quite spectacular, honestly. ;)

Just a heads up that you have through today to set your KDS preferences for the debut NFBC Diamond League. Payments are set for all 15 owners and the competition is ready to begin. We will pick the draft order tomorrow morning, videotape the announcement of the picks and post it online after that. We have some editing to do, so give us a bit of time to scroll in the names to their appropriate draft spots, but this is going to be the first NFBC draft spots ever videotaped and we're going to have some fun with this. Enjoy.

But first, get your KDS preferences listed on your team page. LET THE GAMES BEGIN!! :D

The draft order has been selected, filmed and preserved for all to see. Give us a day or so and we'll do the creative editing with the owners' names in the background as we slot them in. Sorry to make you have to wait a little longer for the Diamond League draft order, but with this much money at stake we HAD to videotape the proceedings or folks wouldn't believe us!! :D

It turned out pretty cool with yours truly and Ryan Houston doing the dirty work. We'll post it on the home page and link to it here very soon. Sleep well folks, the draft order is now set in stone!!
