I'm doing a countdown here on the message boards for the main event and we're at 365 teams now overall, but hopefully you noticed the cool countdowns for each live event on the home page. Check it out at nfbc.fanball.com. The guys did a great job with those and they update the number of available spots faster than I can. They automatically go down with each online signup.
The countdown continues. Great fun. Oh, and pitchers and catchers are just starting to report. Now things should really pick up.

Just a heads up that we are closing in on our 25th full main event league, which would leave us with 30 GUARANTEED spots left in the main event. We currently have ONE SPOT LEFT in Chicago before we close out our third full league there and ONE SPOT LEFT at the Bellagio on the second weekend before closing out our seventh full league there. We also have only three spots left in Atlantic City that first weekend and it looks like we will close out that venue with three leagues. That first weekend has the potential of four in Las Vegas, three in Atlantic City and one full league in St. Louis. We will try to avoid any phone hookups that first weekend, but we'll see how we finish up, so secure your spots now.
This is a fun time of year for the NFBC. Keep those live event signups coming and we'll find a home for you, somehow, someway!!
Thanks all.

With two more main event league signups this morning, we now have 375 teams signed up for the NFBC Classic!! That's 25 full leagues even before the first week of spring training is complete. Just amazing all. We really want to close out each city with full 15-team leagues and to do that we'd have to go over 405, but for now the first 405 teams are guaranteed a spot in the race for the $100,000 grand prize. That means we have 30 GUARANTEED SPOTS LEFT FOR THE MAIN EVENT!!!
Great news. Keep the signups coming. This is going to be a historic season in the NFBC.

We're already working on League No. 26 with another signup this afternoon. Okay, let's keep this going and see how this plays out. Two more for the second weekend of March in Las Vegas are on the way as we'll be working on our eighth league there. The Bellagio is going to be a BLAST with yours truly watching the proceedings with a Corona in hand at 10 am!!
How sweeeeeeeet is that?!!

Now we're getting serious. We've had 10 signups in the last 24 hours for the main event and now we're at 380 total teams. Wow, that leaves us with 25 GUARANTEED SPOTS LEFT!!! Let's keep it going. We have more than 80 new members to the NFBC so far, which is great, great news. Welcome to all of the new members of the NFBC family as we had several newbies joining today. Great to have all of you on board with us.

Is the Main going to stop at 390 signups even if the last 24 spots fill up by next week?
My vote is to hold at 390. 405 tops. (even though I don't get a vote).

I'd put it at 1% signups will get cut off at that point if it's next week. Maybe a location/draft date will get locked, but Greg has said numerous times he's like to get the main event done with full leagues and no phone hook ups.

We have 405 guaranteed spots in the event. So that's the target goal. Can we go beyond that? Anything's possible.
But let's get to 405 and then we can see what the future holds.

Great Job!
90 teams (6 leagues) ahead of last year!

True but Greg still has spots to fill in the 3rd league of the on-line option so all the extra's roll in there very easily.

We officially have 26 full leagues right now, the highest total we've ever had in the NFBC main event!! We finished with 390 teams each of the last two years and that's how many we have as of this morning. That means we have 15 GUARANTEED SPOTS LEFT FOR THE MAIN EVENT!!!
Now, our goal is to have full 15-team leagues in each city, so we may have to go above 405 to make that happen. If we do, that will mean extra prize money for everyone involved. We'll discuss details later, but there's no guarantee we'll go above 405 so don't delay if you want to join the NFBC's main event in 2010.
John Fousek of Rapid City, South Dakota just became our 390th signup and it's great to have John back with us. The next signup is the record setter!!! Who wants to join in? Thanks all.

395 with another one coming soon.....
I know some folks had March 1st in the office pool for the sellout, but it may be a day or two later than that. Either way, don't delay if you want to get in. We're getting CLOSE!!! Thanks all.

We welcome back two CDM mainstays to the NFBC's main event, bringing us to 398 paid entrants. Wow, outstanding all. John Menna of WiseGuy Baseball and Fort Collins, Colorado is returning to Las Vegas for the seventh straight year and we couldn't be more excited to have him back in the big dance. This is your year John, no last day disappointments, right?!!!
And Dohn Terrell of O'Fallon, Illinois is going to be on the DL at that time as he faces surgery this week, but he's more than excited to limp into Pujols 5 in St. Louis and partake in the main event. We'll have some painkiller medicine on tap for him at the bar!!
Wow, great to have both of you guys back in the fold before we hit magic number 400 today!! Welcome back and best of luck to both of you in the hunt for this year's $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.
Wow, don't delay. This baby is ready to EXPLODE!!

Nice. One more for the first weekend main event as Will Tyrer is now doing the b2b mains now, signing up for the first weekend today at the Bellagio. That leaves us with six open spots for the first weekend as we're obviously headed to 405 and above if we want perfect leagues in most cities.
Welcome Will. You were like signup 9 and now you're signup 399!!
What a day.

But right now we need to go beyond 405 if we want to finish with more full 15-team leagues than we currently have now.
We'll spread the wealth and discuss how once we've reached a final number. Hang in there with us all.

Do you plan on drawing leagues/picks for both weekends at the same time or do you plan on doing the first weekend once you hit 120 signups and then keeping pushing for more second weekend signups?

If my numbers are correct, and ONE person from Chicago changes to Online, then those two could be closed out at 3 leagues each.
Then they would need the following to fill up leagues evenly with no "mixing" of cities, and no turning people away.....
MARCH 20TH
VEGAS- Need 9
AC- Need 2
ST. LOUIS- Need 10
(would need 6 more the first weekend to combine the 3 cities)
MARCH 27TH
VEGAS- Need 11
NYC- Need 3
This would be a total of 435 teams....WOW!!
With the way they have been selling teams, I wouldn't be shocked if mynumbers are obsolete by the time I post!
