NFBC Rookie Invitational Satellite League- League is Full!!!

Okay Mark Jahns from Wisconsin has grabbed the final spot in the Rookie Invitational league.

Welcome aboard Mark!

Okay - this league is full and now the fun begins. Everybody just hang tight. I need to talk to Greg about a couple of things - but we will have some more info coming about this league later tonight and over the weekend hopefully we can get the conversation started.

Great job getting the league this far this quick. Great group of vets and I am really looking forward to this league (as cheesy as that sounds). With this group of vets there is nothing that is going to be more fun than getting my team slammed by everyone. :D :D

I don't think the idea is to slam teams - at least I won't. Ryan wanted a way for interested rookies to see how the NFBC worked without the commitment of $1350 entry and $500+ in travel & expenses.

I'm pretty sure this league will have a slightly higher SP inning requirement [self-imposed] to make it more in line with what it takes to do will in the overall. RP type strategies can win individual leagues but has no chance in the main event.

It really takes at least a year [probably more] to realize what it takes. We so-called veterans will try to help you see what is required.

I'm hoping to get in some mock drafts on the Fanball site. Every site has different quirks. I know how MDC works but need to know how Fanball works.

Viper,

Sorry if it didn't come across as a joke but it was. I don't really think my team is going to get slammed and what I learn from the conversations we all have will be gold.

I don't think I have ever looked forward to a league I have played in as much as I look forward to this one.

Ok, I was finally able to get registered for the board here. Let me just say that I've been playing this great game for several years now in many different league formats, mainly auction. However, this is my first foray into the NFBC and I am extremely excited to see how I stack against both the format and some great players!

Welcome aboard Todd - glad to see you on the boards.

Ok - a little update for all the participants of this league. I spoke to Greg briefly on Friday regarding our league. They are obviously knee deep in a lot of other pressing matters. But Tom should get our league set up sometime next week. Once that happens we'll have a link on the registration page and all owners will need to officially register for this league. So we'll try to get that done sometime next week.

Also - another piece of news regarding the league. As you all know the winner of this league will win the $1300 and the opportunity to cash that in for a Free Entry in next year's Main Event.

In addition to the regular payout structure, as the founder of this league I will be offering this "bonus" to "rookie" participants. If my team happens to win the league this year, I will take the highest ranking rookie with me next year to the Main Event in NYC as a co-owner. You will draft and co-manage the team for the season and share in any potential profits 50/50.

So NFBC rookies, you now have TWO chances to make it to next year's Main Event.

We will have some more "news" later in the day - so I ask you to remain patient while we get everything sorted out. Start getting your questions for the veterans ready - because we'll dive right in with draft prep early next week!

Ryan,

Being that we haven't paid yet, is the ADP report going to be made available to us (if we're not in another league)?

I'll have to ask Greg/Tom about that - a few of the owners (myself and Ken) I know will be receiving these- so I think we can probably figure out a way to at the very least discuss the ADP. I will ask Tom when I speak to him on Monday.

Ryan- its Nick. Thanks for having me this season in your league.

Guys- I'm looking forward to the season. I've been friends with Ryan for years and have played in another league with him for almost ten years.

Everyone, here's the link to use to register. If you are in this league, you MUST register for it otherwise it will not be set up correctly. Just click on the link, enter your user name and password and click on the Rookie Invitational option. Thanks and have fun in this league.

Thanks Tom - I will make sure everyone gets the message and get people registered. Did you receive my email regarding one of my owners? Nick Passerelli mistakenly signed up for another $125 league on March 14th - so we need to switch him into this league.

Thanks - RC
