Player Analysis tool

Hey guys -

I created a tool to help me with my NFBC prep (Bellagio Auction) and thought you might find it useful as well. It's still under active development, so if there are features you's like to see feel free to shout 'em out.

Rotobase

A couple things about it that are especially helpful for NFBC drafters:

* Mockdraftcentral has generously licensed their ADP data to me, so it is integrated into each player profile.

* The bullet graph in the upper right has two lines: the lower is based on the average players contribution in that category for the average last place team in the NFBC Main even last year, the upper is average contribution of a player in the average first place team from Main last year. For folks who like to get a feel for what a player will contribute by Avg, HR and SB these are really useful.

* There are projections, as well a an Expected line, which is a weighted average of all freely available projections + James. Steve Moyer was kind enough to let me add their projections in as well. Soon you'll be able to change the ABs and watch the counting stats move based on PT.

There are also notes and a bunch of graphs and stats, so you can make up your own mind about players instead of drafting from a canned cheat sheet.

No pitchers yet, coming soon.

Best of all: free.

Lots of new features coming, so pretty excited. Hopefully the draft prep doesn't suffer - but then again this is a kind of prep!

Thanks - Josh Great stuff. Would love to sign up to be a subscriber etc... I would rather send my $ to you instead of some other site. I am very interested in getting all the data in tabular EXCEL format, along with previous years 1st half/2nd half splits

FYI, I burst out loud laughing first time I searched for a player. Priceless

Great stuff Josh, nice clean interface... I think you're on to something here especially if once you get the core finished up, you can build a good front end..

You'd like to be able to download that info from each player page, or have every player with all their splits in one Excel file?

The problem with the latter is the reason why all that info is stored in a database: it becomes huge and incomprehensible if you can't group it with keys. Not to get too technical, but the problem is that each row stops being one player's stats. When you have more than one row belonging to one player, its time for a database.

But if you want specific player pages in excel, I could totally make that happen.

Also if you are looking to do sorts on trends and/or anything else, I'm working on building a tool to let you do that visually and interactively, and you can then download the results from your filtering as an excel file.

Really appreciate it. Look, feel and simplicity was a huge focus, as was making what is usually just a bunch of information into a page that communicates knowledge. I'll definitely keep my focus on the front end user experience, because I'm using the thing too! Plus I'm a Mac guy :-p

Great work. I've already wasted 2 hours of my life on rotobase with more I'm sure to follow. I think rather than the players name search engine I would prefer a list of names to click on. Perhaps broken up by positions. Maybe even the ability to sort and remove player names making it a handy draft tool.

Hard to believe, but once I was technical and used to write databases so I get it Now I am in management and only know excel. I can't believe that I became the technically challenged executive I used to make fun of when I was young!!

Anyway, here is my perfect vision

A single excel page for hitters and pitchers with many many columns that shows:

Last name, first name, positions elgible for, ADP, 2010 average projected stats, then last years stats hitting stats (HR, Avg, etc... etc...), and of course, all the fancy stats like BABIP

On a second page 1st half, 2nd half breaks

I know, a TON of columns. Does $50 work for you?

Are you able to check whether the client has flash? My pet peeve is having to click cancel to say that I don't want to install flash about 15 times.
