Greg may want to seriously rethink how slow drafts work based on this thread. I'm in one right now. It's my first experience with NFBC, and from my point of view it's been going well so far (in the 7th round right now). That said, if I had read this thread before I signed up, I probably would have skipped it. I've made my most of my picks quickly, putting myself on auto when I had a good idea of who I wanted and whether they'd be available. But when I signed up, I did so assuming that if I wanted 12 hours for a pick I had it. The idea that there are going to be 14 pissed off guys who may berate me if I'm out all day without internet access (as I will be on Thursday and Friday this week) isnt very appealing, and is going to be a good way to make new players have an unpleasant initial NFBC experience. If there are expectations about providing contact information (which I've done), making rapid picks, etc. those should be communicated to people before they register. The best solution would probably be to have two types of slow drafts, as a number of people have said. This was the post before KJ's first slow draft.
This is a rematch of last season's first slow draft, but we've got a few spots open for newcomers.
For those of you interested in a faster slow draft and some baseball chat ... Shawn and I will keep this draft moving with text messages or phone calls. We'll target a 7-10 day finish with a 45-round DC format.
The Original Slow Draft II

4 Bill Cleavenger
5 GlennX

9 Bobby Jurney
10 Billy Waz
11 Mike Cameron
12 Anson Chan
13 Steve Wells
14 Bryan Vogel
15 Paul Spradling [/QUOTE]I think the key to making a draft like this work, is giving someone "commissioner access".
KJ had this during the draft above, and even if I was away from the computer, he would text or call and I could tell him who I wanted, and the draft wouldn't miss a beat.
We finished this in 7.5 days!

On a side note, the people who refuse to give out any contact info are the ones who irk me the most. It's not like anyone is going to hack into your bank accounts or find that you are surfing porn all the time!
Giving a cell # where someone could text or call should be REQUIRED for these type drafts. For the record, I wouldn't give out my home phone # for the reasons this thread was started.
