Some will like it. Some will hate it. It's the nature of the beast.
It was tested on Wednesday / Thursday / Friday.
So far so good -- it's really not an issue with the interface we are worried about. It's the autopick feature. We want to make sure that we have that rectified before we push it live. I fully expect it will take place either Monday / Tuesday.
Remember -- this is just the live draft room. The rest of the stuff is getting worked on as we speak including the FAAB processing.
So I understand everyone is in a hurry, but I want to make sure it's fully tested / working before we launch it.
Remember -- when we launch this -- we will be in Beta mode and that will help us iron out any "kinks" we find.
Hope this helps. Ryan,
Thanks for the post above. However, time for softball questions is over. Here's some 98mph fastballs up-and-in...
1. Does Fanball understand the nfbc players don't care about a drating site THIS year?
2. Does Fanball understand the nfbc players DO WANT a quality backend and FAAB system?
3. Does Fanball understand for every hour that is put into working on the drafting site is one less hour put into the backend and FAAB system?
4. Does Fanball understand they are losing thousands of dollars in revenue because people don't want to committ to play in more leagues without seeing the FAAB process?
5. Can you provide us with a specific date we, the nfbc players, will be able to demo the FAAB process?
On a positive note, your website design looks very good and I like some of the new functionality included in the league set-up. Good job there.

Guys, sorry I didn't get to the boards until now, but it was a day with the family and even a little cross country skiing in this frozen tundra. We finally got above freezing today and it was one of those rare winter days where the temperature was perfect for playing in the snow and the sun even stayed warm and cheerful.
Trust me, Ryan, me, Brian, Charlie and everyone involved with Fanball knows how important the FAAB system is. We are NOT missing a beat with FAAB because of what we're doing with the draft software. They have a team of developers working on all of our back-end software and much of what is being developed for the NFBC will be implemented in other Fanball products and ventures. So trust me, we're not wasting our time with the draft software and we are not missing on our timeline for the FAAB improvements.
Again, I say improvements because the team knows what we had last year and what we should have this year. It not only needs to be as good as what we had last year but possibly better and that's the goal. We all know you want to see it and I'll find out this week when I'm in St. Louis what the timetable is to showcase that, but I know we're progressing well on everything. But we understand your concerns on this part of the NFBC.
The draft software is important for a number of reasons and you'll see why soon. But one thing we want to do is flow the draft results immediately into your team pages and not miss a beat. This will be great when satellite league season kicks into high gear and when NFBC Online Double Plays get into full swing. All results should be flowed in immediately without a hiccup. We could have rolled this out last week, but we made a few slight improvements with Geoff's help this week and our final mock on Friday went very smooth. You'll see it soon and you're going to like it.
But yes, we understand how important this next step is for everyone. It's BY FAR the most important part of this transition. You guys have every right to ask these questions and by week's end I should have better answers for you. But I think you'll see the FAAB setup is going to be as good if not better than what you had last year.
We have to unveil the draft software this week and get you folks mocking for free. We need to unveil the FAAB setup to show we'll have Conditional Bids, Copy and Move features. And we need to show you how the back-end works. I should have timetables on all of this within the next week. Thanks for asking and believe me, we know how important this all is.

Please restrict all the whining to the ladies room.
Everyone wants to try out the new stuff that was announced and all this bitching is going to do is not want them to give us any info before it is completely ready in the future.
Truth is, if Greg hadn't said a thing a while ago, all of you complaining would be on MDC and whistling a happy tune none the wiser.

Listen, I don't want any in-house fighting over this before you at least have a product to fight over. I understand the interest in seeing the back-end features and RT is a good friend who could have just as easily called me and asked for an update. He posted it here and Gekko followed up to let Ryan and his team know HOW IMPORTANT this is. But both guys also know that RYAN ALREADY KNOWS THAT!! So hang with us, give us some trust that we are all over this and then let me give you a timetable for when this will be unveiled. I have no problem with the asking of this and yet I know some people feel like some folks are piling on before there's anything to pile on about.
Just trust us that we're on it. I think Fanball has improved the look and functionality of the site from what we had in place last year. This next feature shouldn't be any different.

If I cared, I would ask what part of my post is not true?
If I cared, I would ask why you are so freaked out?
If I cared I would ask why you have no faith in company you are giving your money to.
Do you think they will just throw you into a draft without having time to upload your lists?
Do you think they will make you draft in a pay league without having time to get to know the system?
Just relax and find something else to bitch about that has substance.
PS. I did love your "extra time button" to be used once per draft idea.

i have no doubt the draft software will be useful, however, to us players, it means very little.
i have every faith in things you personally have control over. give us the straight scoop this coming week on the FAAB system. next friday is march 5th.
however, no matter what promises are made or how diligently people are working, by march 12th (before you decide/pick leagues), i need to ultimately decide if i feel comfortable enough that my sundays aren't a time blackhole. without a FAAB system we can demo, i don't see how i can be comfortable. my hope is you guys roll it out to us way before march 12th. thanks for listening.

Mine was more tongue in cheak to start with but there are some guys with a bunch of posts on the subject and that is just going to leave a sour taste in the mouths of people thinking about
announcing anything early in the future.
The thread was done well and I think it just got out of control as there are 5 or more already with the same thing from the last week. I understand the money being paid here but everyone has been assured many many times the FAAB system and team pages will be much better than before.
My apologies if I offended anyone.

jimmy - no offense, some of us around these parts like to know what resources we have so we can plan the # and size of the jobs we can work. that, my friend, IS REASONABLE
you want to stay silent hoping that you don't upset the "higher-ups". if that's how you roll, no problem. some are leaders and some are followers.

Double X,
I would encourage you to give the other folks the benefit of the doubt here. IMO the concerns are legit and there is a lot of talk about them among members.
Fanball is taking on a lot right now. Lots of communication back on the mock draft. Some folks rightfully want to make sure the focus is on the other areas too.
We all lose if this flops. I do not think it will. If it does it ruins the reputation of this event beyond repair. That would suck. All I keep thinking is the worldwide leader essentially froze and had to throw out the first week or so of stats just a few years ago.
Lots of crying on these boards about nothing. Just cut and paste your comments to about 5 other threads and it would be appropriate. Good luck in 2010.

No worries Red. I see your point.
I guess I personally got sick of seeing a few people posting the same thing over and over in other threads with the same subject but that is my issue not this threads.
Point taken, back to prep!
Good luck this year all.

I'm one of the 40 or so people that have been living with the current Fanball NFBBC (basketball) software and the only thing I have a strong dislike for is the lack of live scoring. The FAAB is annoying, but not a killer. Many other small bugs but nothing earth shattering.
If that is the absolute floor, I'm very comfortable with the new changes being completed.
I am staying positive. Just wanted to share.

One question though.
In NFBBC, just like FFOC, all the winning and loseming bids are shown on the FAAB results page.
I'm about 60/40 liking it versus not.
Is this staying?

Reason for 60/40?
While strategically it's a little forthcoming, at FAAB results time it's a hell of a fun thing to read. Especially weeks later when you gloat to your yourself or partner about who you stole a player from or say shucks when you barely missed on a guy. Or that you conditionally bidded on a guy 7 straight weeks. Or that X person bidding higher on a guy than you, but the bid was nullified by some other bid. Fun things like that.

If that is the absolute floor, I'm very comfortable with the new changes being completed.
-Craig Craig, I disagree completely....the NFBBC/Fanball FAAB is pales greatly in comparison to what STATs provided the NFBC last year.
-You have to start a new bid for every conditional bid.
-You have to start a new bid and delete your original bid to revise your bid price.
-You have to start a new bid and delete your original bid to change your drop from one player to another.
The FFOC FAAB was just as bad.
I'm not a fan of all bids & bidders being visible to everybody, though I think the winning bidder has a right to know what the 2nd highest bid is....
NFBC & STATS had this right last year too.
