Combined Standings For NFBC Classic and Double Play

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Mar 04, 2010 3:57 am

Okay, first of all I apologize for not promoting this area of the event well enough. We did provide a Combined Standings prize last year to show folks who was the best fantasy player at both formats -- the 15-teamer and the 12-teamer -- and we awarded a $5,000 prize to the best team. We did budget for that again but then didn't put the prizes on either the Classic layout or the Double Play layout. Our bad.

We will add that now, but let's get the details down first. For anyone playing BOTH THE NFBC CLASSIC AND THE NFBC DOUBLE PLAY, we will have a set of standings that you can follow all year long and the following prizes will be paid:

1st Place = $5,000

2nd Place = $2,500

3rd Place = $1,250

4th Place = $750

5th Place = $500

Now, if you're playing in the NFBC Classic, there's no reason not to try your hand at the Double Play. Even if you just play online, you have a chance to win $1300 in your 12-team league, $60,000 in the overall contest and another $5,000 in the Combined Standings. And if you do the Double Play Live, you can win $2,000 in your 12-team league, $85,000 overall and another $5,000 in the Combined Standings. The Live Double Play is one of our BEST values out there.

C'mon, we're doing everything we can to allow someone to top Lindy's record-setting winning total of $241,300. But you have to play more than one game to do that!!! :D Add the Double Play NOW to your weekend of fun if you're already signed up for the NFBC Classic. We have 400+ owners in the main event and hopefully most of them will try their hand at the Double Play. Just watching the Combined Standings through the course of the season is worth the price of admission. ;)

Just an FYI: We already have over 200 Live Double Play signups, leaving us with 90+ spots. We also have 250+ Online Double Plays, on pace with last year's sellout pace when we hit 600 and closed off signups early. So don't delay if you want to get into either contest. Spots are going fast!!

Now, who wants to partake in the double fun? :D

Oh, and remember that we have the $75,000 cash bonus to anyone who can pull the Lindy: Win the overall grand prize in the NFBC Main Event and win the overall grand prize in the NFBC Online Double Play. The Live DP participants have their team results also in the Online overall standings, so that's the one you need to win. It seemed like such an impossible feat last year, but Lindy Hinkelman of Greencreek, Idaho pulled it off. He's been paid in full and is sitting on that pile of cash now!! :D And the insurance company is back to do it again. Now, who wants to do the Lindy?!! :D

Okay, here's another advantage to playing in both contests: Advanced Sports Media announced today that they will give their draft software to any NFBC participant who is competing in both the main event and the Double Play in 2010. Anyone who has a team in the NFBC Classic and at least one team in the NFBC Double Play will get free access to the Draft Analyzer, a $39.95 value. The Draft Analyzer will be available at www.draftanalyzer.com starting on Friday, March 5th and the access code is NFBC2010. Again, you'll need to be in both events to qualify for the free giveaway.

The Draft Analyzer includes:

* Web-based Software

* Personalized Draft Advice

* Expert Player Rankings

* Use from home and work

* Mac Compatible!

Thanks all and good luck.

well really it's 25,000 for the live overall and a chance at an additional 60,000 if you take the overall combined live/online for a possible total of 85,000, right?

Gekko:

There is a LIVE Double play in Atlantic City that first weekend, on Friday. I realize you probably won't be showing your hand and hopefully you are able to make it work. From one "family man" to another - be GREAT to have you join us. Although I'll understand if you take a pass.

Heck, if you register here I may even GET your pal LUNATIC to push back his departure to Vegas for the HONOR of sitting at the same table as you. ;)

Greg:

I'll assume that in the instances where certain players ( like myself ) have dual Main Event squads and dual Double Play teams, we will be able to designate the squads for Combined Standings purposes early on in April after all of the drafts?

Sack, if also end up in the same Main league, maybe we'll have to make a little side bet on best league finishes. We'll throw in any DC league of our choice as the potential tie breaker
