'Alfonzo Soriano will start the season hitting sixth'

Lou Piniella said, "We have to have him healthy. This should be a good spot for him".

This is what Lou really wanted to say-

'We have to have him. Period.... He's signed to an outrageously long contract and nobody will take him off our hands. I can't get away with batting him much lower since it would be a slap in the face to both him and my General Manager.'

'His swinging from the heels pleases me almost as much as his shoddy outfield play. I will be out of Chicago long before Soriano is, and that is when I will smile again.

'Royals toying with the idea of Hitting Jason Kendall in the 2-Hole'

Rename the 2-Hole, the Black Hole.

Scott Podsednik, followed by Jason Kendall

....Billy Butler owners just threw up in their mouths a bit.

It does make me want to look up an obscure Major League record- Most times leading off an inning during a season without being a leadoff man.

'BJ Upton Could Start the Season Batting Seventh'

Joe Maddon and the Rays are not that stupid. This would mean Pat Burrell would be hitting sixth. Maddon would not put a sloth in front of a gazelle.

When Maddon gets the news that Shawn bid $31 for Upton. Adjustments will be made quickly.

'Chipper Jones Will be out of the Spring Training Lineup for awhile with a Sore Thumb'

Jeopardy-

The answer is, Cal Ripken and Lou Gehrig set records for never missing a game. This pair of players deserve recognition for missing the most games without the use of the disabled list.

"Alex, Who is Chipper Jones and JD Drew!"

 (Queue the "Movin on up!" song)

If the club decides to enter the season with Lopez at third base, Chone Figgins -- the far better defensive player -- will open the season at second base . Fantasy owners would welcome the second base eligiblity for Figgins.

How much would a 2B that could put these numbers go for?

.300 hitter

5 HR

50 RBI(+)

110 Runs

40 SB

Poor mans Jose Reyes? :D

'Justin Duchscherer will throw to live hitters tomorrow'

Striking out Ruth, Gehrig, and Lazzeri was getting boring.

Striking out Ruth, Gehrig, and Lazzeri was getting boring. How many times did he walk them?
People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.
