520+ Signups Now For The Online Double Play

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Mar 10, 2010 12:45 am

We are having a strong push right now for the NFBC Online Double Play and this morning we topped 300 signups overall. Leagues are filling up fast and we may be forced to add a few new times to accommodate all teams. Stay tuned for more details there.

The great thing about the NFBC Online Double Play is that we are getting a lot of new customers to compete with us in this format. We can track the signups and it's great to see so many Fanball customers trying this format for the first time. Welcome aboard CDMers!! :D

Also, the $75,000 cash prize -- now called the Lindy because Lindy Hinkelman of Greencreek, Idaho won it last year -- is available to anyone who can win the overall grand prize in the main event and the Double Play. It seems like a tough accomplishment to pull off, but not only did Lindy win this last year but others like Kevin Schilling and Ken Magner were also in the running for both overall titles. The same will be true this year, for sure, so jump into this contest if you're already in the main event.

If you're playing the main event, we have two good reasons for you to also be in the Double Play:

1. The $75,000 cash prize for winning both overall titles.

2. The Combined Standings. We have $9,500 in Combined Standings between the main event and the Double Play to find out who is really the best at both formats. The team that finishes with the most Combined Standings points wins $5,000 and we pay off the Top 5 finishers. It's worth the price of admission just to follow those Combined Standings during the season.

Check out the times and dates for the Online Double Plays and SIGN UP NOW!! These spots are going fast and we're ecstatic to be over 300 teams this early in the spring. And don't forget about the $500 Live Double Play, which may be the best bargain we're offering. There you have a chance to win $85,000 in grand prizes. We have over 220 teams in the Live Double Play, so grab a spot soon before those fill up. Thanks all and good luck this year.

520+ Signups Now For The Online Double Play

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Mar 10, 2010 12:51 am

Speaking of the Live Double Play, I have had some requests from folks who love the $500 concept but who just can't make it to a Live event for that contest. Some of those folks are involved in the Online Main Event on the 27th and want to be involved in the Combined Standings and the chase for the $75,000 cash prize, but can't get to a live event. I understand this concern and we may have a solution soon.

The $500 Double Play is a great, great concept and we want to get everyone involved who wants to play for the double grand prize structure. Hang tight on that as we are discussing that now and may have a solution soon. The extra $150 doesn't seem to be the problem with some folks, it's just getting to a live venue to participate in this format. We'll see if we can solve that soon for a limited number of participants before we sell out the live events leagues.

Wouldn't buying an online double play team solve this problem Greg?Maybe you meant they wouldn't be eligible for the extrs $25,000 live double play bonus?

[/QUOTE]Correct. Online Double Play teams aren't eligible for the extra $25,000 grand prize that is available to the $500 entrants. We are using the additional money to create the added overall prize in the $500 contest.

I'm going to start a new thread on that now. We have it set up correctly now on the Registration page. Look for details very soon.

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Sun Mar 14, 2010 5:28 am

The NFBC Online Double Play season kicks off tonight with two drafts. Good luck to all who are in those drafts tonight.

We did offer a few earlier dates this year for the Online Championship than we did last year and it looks like we will finish with eight full leagues before the busy season kicks in over those last eight days. That's 96 teams that we didn't have drafting already last year before the final week before Opening Day. I like it.

There are only a couple of openings left before that second weekend of main event live drafts. Lock in a spot if you want as we're already over 320 teams:

Tuesday, March 23, 9 ET

1. Michael Kelstrom, Elmhurst, Illinois

2. Mike Miller, Parker, Colorado

3. Matt Hickok, Owings Mills, Maryland

4. Robert Newton, Charleston, South Carolina

5. Jason Peterson, Las Vegas, Nevada

6. Avi Weisfogel, Old Bridge, New Jersey

7. Doug Reed, Stillwater, Oklahoma

8. Alex Zelvin, Jamesburg, New Jersey

9. Steven Merrifield, Morgantown, West Virginia

10. Kevin Burns, Iowa City, Iowa

Wednesday, March 24, 7 pm ET

1. Lance Zhou, Brooklyn, New York

2. Dane Maxfield, Bellaire Beach, Florida

3. Avi Weisfogel, Old Bridge, New Jersey

4. Eric Seiler, Hoboken, New Jersey

5. Brian Ng, San Jose, California

6. Dylan Kolatzki, Saukville, Wisconsin

7. Rob Sussman, Riverside, California

8. Donald Haworth, Palm Bay, Florida

9. Jeffrey Donnelly, New Rochelle, New York

10. Bob Earnest, Downy, California

Thursday, March 25, 7 pm ET

1. John Gifford, Skowhegan, Maine

2. Bennett Fischthal, Brooklyn, New York

3. Brian Ng, San Jose, California

4. John Chen, River Edge, New Jersey

5. Gary Redd, Milton, Florida

6. Ross Range III, Danville, Virginia

7. Joseph Meehan, Edina, Minnesota

8. David Murphy, Weymouth, Massachusetts

We had a huge day for the NFBC Online Double Play and now have more than 330 teams currently signed up. That's an awesome number this early, especially when you consider that we have 230+ already for the Live Double Play. Let's keep those two events rollin' and see if we can reach our goals. Good luck all and grab a spot soon online because it's going to get very hectic from March 28th through April 3rd.

I think folks liked their drafts last weekend in the live events because we're having a strong push this week in the Online Double Play. We're now above 380 signups with more leagues filling each day. Let's keep the push going as next week should be crazy for drafting. Keep it coming and thanks to everyone who has signed up already.

We now have more than 445 Online Double Play signups with room for a whole lot more. Our goal was 720 teams, and although it's unlikely that we will get that high, the interest in this format is still strong and now your odds of winning the $60,000 grand prize is even better.

Yes, the $60,000 grand prize is GUARANTEED no matter how many teams we finish with. We have the 288 Live Double Play teams to add to the mix, but the bottom line is that we may have fewer teams than expected and thus you now have a better chance of winning the grand prize than before.

Come and join us for this contest. Should be a BLAST and the NFBC draft software is working very well.

I'm proud to say that it looks like we will finish with 500+ Online Double Play signups this year and should finish with 800+ Double Play signups in all when you consider the 288 teams we had at the Live events. That's short of our goals, but still a very impressive number and a nice jump from the 600 Online Championship League teams we had last year.

The only Online Double Play leagues we have left are:

Friday, April 2nd, 9 pm ET

Saturday, April 3rd, Noon ET

Saturday, April 3rd, 4 pm ET

Saturday, April 3rd, 8 pm ET

Sunday, April 4th, Noon ET

Thanks all for a GREAT, GREAT season and good luck to everyone in the Double Play.

We are closing in on 500 Online Double Play signups tonight, which is exciting. We've had a big, big day today as the rhetoric is back on fun drafting and a solid back-end system. Good job all.

Welcome to everyone who needs a last minute fix and a shot at our $60,000 grand prize. We have only five open dates left between Friday night and Sunday afternoon. Grab a spot now because once these final leagues are full, we are done. Thanks all for another great, great online season and when all is said and done we'll have almost 200 NFBC leagues running in 2010, easily a new record.

Just a heads up on the final count for this contest. We are now over 520 teams for the Online Double Play and we already have 288 teams for the Live Double Play. So we'll have 800+ teams battling for the $60,000 grand prize this year, fewer than our goal of 1,020 but still a great, great number for all of you playing. Your odds of winning are now better than we expected, but beating 800+ other teams still won't be easy. LET'S GET IT ON!!

Glenn The $75,000 cash bonus is definitely out there for those who are in the Classic and the Double Play, and each Classic is lined up with each Double Play entry, so the more the merrier, I always say!! :D
