Jose Reyes to start the year on the DL

Post by Edwards Kings » Thu Mar 11, 2010 12:15 pm

Ya'll let Reyes slip to the third round. Go ahead. Ol'Edwards Kings will be waiting there to pounce on Reyes like a tiger...ok...like a fat guy on the last biscuit...but pouncing none the less.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Jose Reyes to start the year on the DL

this 2-8 weeks is a pretty big range; I had my thyroid removed because it was overactive; so when that happens I automatically became hypo same a s Reyes now; I do remember ending up in the hospital for 1 week because they could not stabilize me; when discharged I missed almost 4 weeks of work because of fatigue.

Can you steal bases like you once did?

Hell, I just played hoops with a thyroid condition. I sure hope it's not worse than taking synthroid every day. This does NOT sound good.

I run marathons and train 60+ miles/week despite being stuck on synthroid.

I no longer have a thyroid gland (a la Doug Davis, et al)

Jose needs to man up

People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

If I heard correctly, on today’s spring training broadcast of the Mets they said Reyes would be out anywhere from 2-8 weeks. Those drafting week 1 will probably have no idea if it’s 2 or 8 or somewhere in-between. Week 2 people may have a better idea of what it will be. All of this effects when Reyes will be drafted.

Is it an advantage or disadvantage? Only time will tell.

BTW, as I am writing this the Mets just went back-to-back jacks to dead center field (410).
[/QUOTE]Interesting indeed. I think the Reyes situation definitely favors the 2nd weekend but... if next Saturday, the timefram is still 2-8 wks and team 15 drafts him at 4.1, and then it's announced Reyes will only miss 2 wks and be ready by opening day, that's quite a bargain. Those drafting the second weekend would likely be picking him early to mid 2nd rd (maybe even late 1st  ).

Side rant: I still preferred it when there was just ONE main event and everyone in this contest drafted on the same day at the same time. It was unique and everyone started on equal ground. Plus I don't like the fact that some guys will draft 2 main event teams. 1 team, 1 chance, again equal footing. No second chances.

Just thought I should point out that they didn't say that he'll be ready in 2-8 weeks...they said he'll be ready in "approximately 2-8 weeks". Apparently the felt that the 2-8 week range was a little too precise.
