Is the Ultimate auction/draft in Las Vegas at the Rio or another location?

H2H - thanks but this year I'm not likely doing that much. Aside from no pay part of the equation, a weekly schedule is tough. I have to write one on the NFBC for tomorrow's newsletter but without knowing GG's true identity, it is tough. I may be forced to write on something that may aid my opponents.

Last year (in Las Vegas) there was an expert league auction in connection with the trade association on Thursday night that was open to the public to watch, will that be the case this year?

If you are just filling space I am a Tiger Fan would like to see Bonderman 20 wins and 2 ERA and the Cy Young in your projections. Also I would like to you post: Mags could knock in 140, Pudge winning a batting title.

Tom - When you picked the draft spots for the Ultimate today, did you pick the order from 1 up to 15 or from 15 down to 1? Just curious; I've seen the positions picked both ways. My partner Will and I got pick 11 today, and I was wondering if we were the 5th name you pulled out or the 11th.
Thanks - Pete
Thanks - Pete
OK - So I'm not as good as I thought I was; but at least I am consistent.

I'm taking my son and a friend of his with me to Las Vegas, both of whom will have just turned 21 by draft day. I asked them if they would be interested in being a draft facilitator for $100. At first they seemed interested, but then my son told me he was going to win 10 Grand Friday night, so he wouldn't need the money. Would you like for him to make an 'investment' for you?

tom,
what round would you consider taking NICK SWISHER (OF A's) in?

Gordon-
I have Swisher ranked 269th overall. Hope that helps.

What position(s) does Aaron Boone qualify at? Or is he only a UTIL?

Tom,
Do you think that the Padres play in a "hitters park" or a "pitchers park"?

I would readily agree also that they play in a pitchers park but in the first magazine that we were sent, several Padres pitchers were characterized as having to overcome the obstacle of playing have their games in a hitters park and I was baffled. Was one of the editors consuming some of Milwaukee's finest brew or has Gordon Gekko's far-reaching slight of hand influence finally managed to hack into your mainframe?

Sorry, half of their games, not "have" of their games......Nothing like questioning the editorial content of others only to have a groundball go right through the five hole.

Speaking of the Padres... Dave Roberts seems to be pretty OVERVALUED or UNDERVALUED in most drafts I've done so far.
I've seen him go as high as 80 overall, and as low as 210th.

Are you and Greg (and your bosses) happy with the turnout. It's hard to believe that it is likely you will reach 300 before your proposed cut-off date. You need less than two a day to get there. These last few may be hard but 285 is a damn lead pipe lock cicnch and 300 is no longer out of the question. Viper, I'm just checking this thread now. Of course we are ECSTATIC about the response this year. Honestly, I predicted 150 people would return from 2004 and we'd finish around 270. I'm very confident we'll hit 300 and if we hit it evenly in all cities I will give praise to the high heavens.
One of the biggest surprises of this year has been the very strong response to the auction leagues as we went from 37 participants to over 100 participants this year. We'll likely have seven auction leagues in Las Vegas alone this year, which is incredibly strong. If I can help grow that area of the market this year, I'll be extremely satisfied.
All in all, it's been a great start to 2005 and I thank all of you for making it possible.

Tom, do you or Greg play in many leagues or does this whole organizing thing take up all your time? I think I'll be in 8 baseball leagues this year and I'm sure Tom is in about the same. We both are in several expert leagues with separate teams. This organizing thing doesn't prevent me from competing in several leagues, it only prevents me from winning any of them!
That and I was a much better player before I had kids! Instead of watching ESPN each day, the TV is stuck on the Disney Channel.

We're still working on the details of that, Terry. We added an FSTA poker tournament for members that night, so it's possible that we'll do a 13-team NL-only draft and a 12-team AL-only draft starting at 4 p.m. You're welcome to come over and watch and have beers with me. Our goal is to do this from 4-7 p.m. and then have a Texas Hold 'Em Poker tournament from 7-11 p.m. If we did an auction again, it would take too long. Hope this helps and sorry we aren't doing the auctions.
