if you get into a "fast" draft with a PC, i can see that making it hard to keep up.
the simpler the better.
sorry if i stepped on anybody's toes in this thread.

That's another reason the 4th-5th round pitcher run seemed so crazy. Not only did 9 or 10 pitchers go in 12-13 picks...It took about a minute, 30 seconds!!

Having drafted in one of the other AC leagues, it was crazy how quick Gekko and Rich's league was drafting compared to the other 2 leagues. I would think the main issue I would have has nothing to do with prep, but the time to locate and cross players off my list. It can be easy to miss a picked player and then inadvertantly pick him later (we had a few people forced to skip a pick late because they picked someone taken).
The SP run shouldn't be that surprising. The talent level drops off pretty quickly after the top 25-30 SP's and the run reinforces the fact that the league managers were prepared and willing to adapt from somewhat meaningless ADP data (as it relates to the draft unfolding in front of you) to real-time supply/demand.
Personally, I was hoping for a similar SP run (and the creation of some hitting value) in our league but it never unfolded.

Very interesting thread ... it will be interesting to see a season's end recap of how this league performed OA. It strikes me that the couple of guys who were trying to use their full time allotment may be very "process oriented" decision makers. Their "process" works well for them, and while they'll make adjustments in terms of needs-based outcomes, they won't compromise on their "process", or at least will try to minimize that degree of compromise. I don't think that's a bad thing. I've facilitated drafts in baseball and football ... totally don't understand pushing the pace from that end . The guys sitting around the horseshoe have (in some cases) traveled huge distances, spent hours preparing that only those in the fraternity can understand, and have forked over considerable coin for the privilege. You're there for the players' benefit. Do it right, not fast and keep those sightlines to the board wide open for the #1 and #15 seats as well as for the middle-seated guys. Now if they want to shout 'em out quick on their own, that's their choice, but rushing 'em from the board end ... why? Just run things by the stated (and repeated) rules. Sticker on, clock starts. Tremendously fair, and reduces grounds for anyone feeling they were treated unfairly.

Facilitator: Team 5 is on the clock
Team 5: Clayton Kershawn
Facilitator: Team 5 selects Clayton Kershaw
[waits for sticker to be placed on board]
Facilitator: Team 4 is on the clock

I'll say from experience ... If you're the guy with the stack of pitching stickers and that's where you've been focusing the last couple of picks it really doesn't take long to find the next one and slap it up there !

[/smartass] [/QUOTE]no, while all this was going on, somebody's offense was getting stronger.. and then he thinks, WTF, i'll stack up on offense, go the minimum IP route, go the relief pitcher option, forget the overall, try to win or get in the league money this weekend. regroup for next weekend.
