The 6/7 SP turn becomes the 4/5 SP turn. If everyone adapts, basic construction strategies remain relatively intact. One could easily argue that the 6/7 ADP SP's are more appropriately valued at 4/5 (obviously AC 1 made this collective determination). I'd bet this happens again this weekend...only it won't be such a "surprise".

every draft is different........u never know whats going to happen. you just have to adapt and adjust your team as u go along.

i did not want any of the next grouping of pitchers unless I could get them 2 rounds later. i wanted some of the guys who went in between my 4/5 picks, namely Beckett or a couple others would have sufficed.

No worries. I'm willing to bet an SP run of that magnitude will never happen again this year in any main event. I was unfortunate enough to be in the "outlier" league lst week. Utterly ridiculous.

How much are you willing to bet? I am in your league in NY, if it is a good enough wager we can make it happen.

In 2004, my league drafted 15 starting pitchers by pick 5.5. It happens!

Here I was thinking this run was all started by the Autographed Baseballs for highest drafted player. Checked the list and no SP's!
P.S. Those who were in CHI 4 last year didn't we have a crazy SP/RP run from rounds 5-7 something like 23 of the 30 picks were SP/RP. Can't see draft results anymore and don't have them on paper.

P.S. Pitching runs happen, CHI4 last year had 14 pitchers go in a row 9-9 to 10-7 where 6 closers were drafted in a row and 7/8. Before all that from 6-13 to 9-1 20 of 37 picks were pitchers.

I don't think the problem necessarily was that there was a pitching run.....runs happen. I'm actually in the midst of a D run in my football Trendsetters draft.
I think the problem stemmed from the fact that the pitchers taken were being picked so far above their perceived ADP.
Hey, you know what, it wasn't really that big of a deal. It was surprising and a bit disconcerting, like any run can be. Still, you watch it happen, you adjust your game plan, and if you're good enough it presents an opportunity that if worked right can lead to great things.
My personal reaction was curiosity at what offensive players would drop to me now. Several did & I went offense for the balance of the single digit rounds. Others handled it differently. The season will play out and we'll see if any advantage was garnered and who played it right. Until then, this is all just an interesting sidebar.
I can't believe we get to do this all over again at Citifield in only four more days. The two weekend concept is a big success in this player's mind.

Rich I could easily be wrong about the league's collective draft plans but how else do you explain reaching that far for SPs? One theory, admitted by GG, was that he was counting on getting 2 pitchers in the top 25, and multiply that by 10-12 owners and you have a bunch of people fighting over Thr same players. Sounds logical to me.

If we do this in my league at Citifield, we might be able to lock Shandler out of getting Joba on the 4/5 turn. He picks #3.

I was kinda shocked at how early pitching went again this year. I probably shouldn't be though.
I got caught with my pants down on the closer runs.
