Bellagio Review by Walla Walla

Post by Walla Walla » Mon Mar 29, 2010 3:39 pm

I thought it was a great Hotel with a very friendly helpful staff. The rooms were great and room service was quick. The one draw back brought by Jules earlier is the food prices. Just nuts what they were charging for breakfast. Want some strawberries on your cereal? Only $6 additional.

I know Fanball loves the idea that they're doing the event in a high class resort but not all of us are highrollers. As far as drafting there it wasn't any better or worse than other places.

Face it your in a room seated at a table looking at a draft board. We could do this in a barn and everyone would say good draft at the end. :D

Couldn't disagree more. Great place, Great event, Great people, Great time. Walla bring or own strawberries next year or stay down the street at the motel 6. Don't try to discredit a Great Event.

Thank you to everyone who pulled this off. You did a Great Job!!!!!

Nice to finally meet you last weekend, Mr. Crane. I thought our auction was a blast.

I hear what you are saying about prices, but I don't think it is a Bellagio issue. Sure they are upscale, but the food overall in Vegas, which used to be a selling point, has taken a BIG dive. Every buffet (and yes, I see quite a few :D ) served plastic eggs and roadkill bacon. For the pleasure, $12+ bucks please. $6 bucks extra if you want OJ.

I have no problem paying for quality food, but paying quality prices for high school lunch room food is tough. Not the NFBC fault of course, but Vegas as a whole needs to bring back the cheap, but good food back!
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Great stuff with your draft reviews! Love reading about them...good luck this year!

Have you tried the breakfast buffet at Paris? It's my fave! No plastic eggs there! And right across from Bellagio. Gotta get there early or else the line is long. I think it's $18, but well worth it (I even swipe some bananas and pastries on the way out for snacks during the draft!)
Jules, my apologies for not saying goodbye to you on Saturday night after the Rich Gannon dinner. I thought you were returning to Las Vegas to draft on Sunday. I didn't realize until RT told me on Sunday that you specifically came back for the Saturday night dinner. I owe you an extra hug now at the NFFC draft!! :D

I told Ryan that you came back to Las Vegas just for that and to see good friends and he was ecstatic. I hope you enjoyed that special dinner. Rich Gannon is about as nice as they come and he really was engaging with everyone he saw and very interested in our event. Put that photo of you and Rich on the web site for sure.

Thanks again for joining us that night. I thought it was a special time and you could see how committed the Fanball team is to making this work not only in baseball but football and basketball too.

You would have been proud of Ryan and I yesterday. We went in front of the Bellagio and shot video that will be used on the NFBC, NFFC and NFBBC sites!! :D Look for them soon. But the NFFC footage says "Welcome to the 2010 National Fantasy Football Championship From the Bellagio Las Vegas!!" See ya there in FIVE short months!! :D

Not the NFBC fault of course, but Vegas as a whole needs to bring back the cheap, but good food back! I totally agree Wayne. Do you remember when Vegas hotels tried to lure you into their casinos with $1.99 steak and eggs meals? Damn, those were the days. How many times did we all play hours of blackjack, go upstairs to eat steak and eggs for a couple of bucks and then go back downstairs to gamble. That doesn't happen anymore.

As for the Bellagio, after seeing the prices now you know how much it cost us for each buffet. But I thought it was worth it. We'll start a thread soon to get feedback on all of that, but the last thing we wanted was to have our auction guys or main event guys or Diamond guys trying to run through the Bellagio looking for a snack and then paying $10 for a Snickers bar or $25 for a club sandwich. Having food nearby was almost essential if you're drafting at the Bellagio. And I thought the food was fantastic (okay, the pizza wasn't the best) and trust me I ate at the ISC, the main event, the Diamond League, the Ultimate Auction League and everything else!! :D I need to go lose weight now!! :D
Greg, I loved the Rich Gannon dinner! If I were a dude, I'd say Rich was a Bro! What a down to earth guy who knows his stuff!! After talking to Rich, I know who my cornerstone QB will be this year! ;)

You and Ryan were great hosts, so thank you both! Loved catching up with some of my pals and meeting some of the Fanball crew. Oh, and the autographed 8x10 from Rich was an extra cool touch!!!

I can't wait for the NFFC!! Get that video up and set some dates!!! :D I'm ready to send you a check!

Thanks again for the dinner and drinks and thanks for getting that something like this means a lot to some folks. Going that extra step for your customers really says something in my book!

The prices for food at the Bellagio are outrageous, but it's still a great venue. Yellowtail's sushi is out of this world, and the spicy tuna rolls are the best I've ever had, but you have to take out a 2nd mortgage on your home to eat there. I wish I was rich. The buffet is a decent value if you play it just right. I try to get there just before they switch over to lunch, so it's only $16 and you can stuff yourself for an hour on great food and you're set 'til dinner time. If you're trolling for bargains, check out the specials at the Victorian Room at Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon right across the street. Steak and eggs only $5.99 from midnight to 6am. Sometimes they also have an all you can eat Chinese special for $10.

The Bellagio is downright cheap compared to City Center. It's like $70 a plate for dinner over there. And if there's an earthquake the entire place will crumble!

I coupled the NFBC event with an anniversary dinner at the Picaso at the Bellagio. What a fantastic restauarant! (with fantastic prices... they have to pay for those Picasos on the wall). But the dinner at the restaurant and the fact that we were staying at the Bellagio was a selling point for my wife to accompany me.

I heartily second the accolades for the Bellagio as a great venue for the NFBC event. I suspect however, that we saw the lowest room rates we'll ever see for that hotel.
Hey Jules!

Sorry I missed talking with you in person this year, but hope your season is great. Thanks for the heads up on Paris, which is where we had dinner (and it was good and I didn't mind paying for it) before we went to Beatles Love! at the Mirage Saturday night. Sometime I'll have to tell you about the dine-dash to make show by snagging a stretch limo!

Stay in touch.
