Problem With FAAB System

Post by bill1car » Sat Apr 03, 2010 7:39 pm

Last night (Friday night) I carefully saved my bid lists. Tonight I checked the lists and one of the players I wanted to drop had been changed to someone I did not want to drop. I had the same problem a couple days ago.

Just wanted to give a heads up that as of late Saturday night I am still having the problem of my dropped players being changed without my knowledge.

Good to see that this issue has been fixed. Now we can all get back to the IMPORTANT part of this weekend which is Easter.

As far as the free agent bids...I'm saving my money for those unexpected events that might happen in May, June, July...etc.

Sunday morning update...

1. I'm using my 3rd computer of the weekend...my daughter's Mac. Page downloads IS a bit quicker than before. THANK YOU.

2. There are still free agents missing from the faab pool. These players ARE on the 25 man rosters of their respective teams according to MLB. This is disappointing in that I have interest in bidding on them, but will be unable to. As long as they are not in the free agent pools of any other league, I guess I will have to live with it.

3. As mentioned b4, owned % and start % have reset to zero, along with their stats.

Ahhh, the doom and gloom post to start Easter Sunday!! Gotta love it.

Folks, plan ahead if you really believe the above. We have more players in free agency this week than we'll have at any point this season, so yes, it is going to take a little longer to load. Plan ahead. Make your selections now and tweak them later if you have to. It's not so slow that you can't have your bids in now and try to tweak later.

New to this party and haven't read all the threads about free agent lists, but has anyone addressed the issue about missing stats that were available to us last year? In particular, I look closely at K's for hitters, GS and BB for pitchers. To me, way more work to have to go to a second site to look up all these stats that are no longer included in the faab system. We already said we'd add a few more after we get through this. We don't want to clutter that page, but will add whatever the masses ask for.
How about being able to set our line ups for next week!!! Some of us will be gone. I had to spend way too much time tonight checking other sites to see who plays X amount of games and finding out pitching match ups.
Todd. Set your lineup today and you're good to go for next week. As we've stated before, this is a unique week where the first game of this week starts Sunday night and the first game of next week starts Monday morning. But anything you save for Week 0 will save for Week 1. If you really need to take one of your Red Sox or Yankees players out of your lineup, you'll have to do it after tonight's game starts. It's a unique week that won't be duplicated again. So find a way to make that change between tonight and tomorrow morning.

In weeks going forward, you can change the next week's lineup shortly after Monday's games start. No problem there. The next week's schedule will appear on your pages shortly and then we'll erase that mad face that appears here on Easter Sunday. Have a good day and good luck this year.

Bill, as we stated here, this problem has been corrected and it is just a display problem that should display properly now. Everything you've saved has been saved properly. We reset this and it took some time for the display feature to clean out. I'm told today it should display properly. Log out again and let me know if it still doesn't show the changes you made. You can email me at [email protected] if you need clarification on your correct moves.

Good luck today.

greg - as long as the system doesn't go down or get significantly slower from 4pm - 8pm, i think you are in the clear. the current system, though less than ideal this week, IS certainly useable.

Good job to you and the staff for trying to get everything set for today's faab run. everyone here appreciates it.

have a case of beer ready for after the faab bids post tonight.

I think folks can see that whenever there has been an issue -- and of course there will be issues -- we are here to solve them. John, Cory and his team have worked day and night and we came up with solutions yesterday when we realized the added minor-leaguers were loading down the FAAB process. When bugs were in the display function yesterday, folks emailed screen shots that helped us find it and solve it.

John, Cory and their team will be working today to make sure everything goes smooth. Geoff, Tom and I have been up every night running leagues smoothly and making sure the draft software worked well (which it did!!). I will try to be on the boards throughout even though I have family over for Easter all day. We are trying to be as responsive as possible.

Some of the emails I've received in the last day have been about change and how hard it is for some folks to even try to learn a new system. But most folks are working through this with us. We'll do all we can to make the FAAB go smoothly today. And tens of thousands of other players are using the Fanball servers for their Draft & Play, Commissioner and Diamond Challenge leagues today as well.

It's a busy day for all of us, but we are here to respond if needed. Good luck all.

I didn't look at free agents for my teams till today. I wanted to wait for all the changes, etc to pass before taking care of it.

I really did not have that much trouble. The loading time is a little long, but tolerable.

One thing I would correct, and I bet will cause some problems today, is that it selects a drop for you to begin.

For example, I want to pick up Jon Rauch and drop Joe Nathan. After bidding on Rauch, the system picks a player to drop in the drop slot, instead of MAKING me drop Nathan. I'll bet more than a few players will forget to drop the right player with this system. The drop slot should be empty until WE fill it.

As for all the scare posts and doom and gloomers...Forget 'em. It is totally workable and knowing how hard the NFBC is working on it, it'll only get better and better as we go along.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Thanks Dan. I'll send the suggestion to IT now. Thanks for being the voice of reason around here. ;)
My apologies if this came off as doom and gloom, was intending t oexplain how the load time might hurt people with multiple teams late close to the deadline. Late breaking news happens and this may be a real problem, all I am saying. Just trying to explain and maybe warn people with multiple teams.

I have had a number of posts praising the changes as they have happened as well as the IT team and you. I was not intending to jump into the doom and gloom crowd and I'm sorry that post came across that way.

See the rules for more details!F&B....You can set bids up until 8pm eastern on Sunday... Actually the link to the league rules is grayed out. Greg can you reactivate that link? I just wanted to make sure our budget was still $1000.

I looked at the free agents available in my satellite league on Friday. I went back to place my bids today and they are no longer there.

Yes, imaginary $1,000 FAAB budget for all teams. Good luck.

Hi Greg,

Could you confirm that FAAB will not run today for leagues drafted this past week? It is clearly stated in the rules ... just want to make sure the IT guys know about it! Thanks!
