League Home Standings Are At The Top
Okay, we moved the League Standings to the top of your home page as requested by many folks. Right now we have a yellow box to alert folks to the Friday roster deadline because we felt it was important to let everyone know when rosters locked today. I will pull that off and put that in the Commissioner's Notes after today and then you'll be able to see the League Standings at the very top. Content is under the standings as requested.
We'll make further changes but this was the most important one people requested.
The link for League Forums is small on the front page, but click on that and you'll see a full forum. Have fun smack talking with that.

Today the League Home Page looks MUCH better with standings at the top and League Message Board to the right.
Overall Standings should be live now for the Main Event, Online, Auction Championship and Live Double Play. They look BEAUTIFUL today!!

Just an FYI: We do need a time stamp at the top of the league standings so that you know which day the standings are through. At this point without a league of my own to check, I honestly don't know if the league standings and overall standings are through Thursday's results or Friday's results. We'll definitely have to get a time stamp at the top of those pages. But I think we are getting closer on these features.

The standings are still not appearing updated through yesterday's games...they look the same as they did last night at about 1:00 AM ET, which was through Thursday. Will they be run again, so that they include Friday's games ? If so, do you know when ?

He worked all night and saw the league and standings run at 3:30 and in fact he sent me an email at 5:16 am with an update. He's now making sure they are all displayed properly. It definitely was a display screwup. Again, sorry for the delay but hopefully they are all being shown now.

I know this isn't on the critical path, but the combined standings & lifetime standings aren't yet functional.
Keep plugging away.

Glenn
The Combined Standings need a mathematical formula involving the Double Play to make sure both contests are weighted perfectly. I believe we had 828 teams in the Double Play and 435 in the Main Event, so Rank Points in the DP are multiplied by like .525 in the Combined Standings. We have this set up, but chose to test it a bit more before making it live last night. I agreed to that.
The Lifetime Standings, I think, need complete revamping. Our baseline for teams is 300 to compare all years equally. That's not a good number to do that with. Also, they were never figured mathematically correct by STATS. And owners are missing in some places and their co-managers for the exact same teams have higher rankings. We need to look this over, but I think we can still get this live before doing all that.
This isn't all STATS' fault. Any misspelling of a name or change in letters or anything like that isn't getting picked up for all years by the system. Me or Tom really need to go in there and look at each owner and fix some of those listings. I know where some of the errors are wrong and I think we can fix them. But it will take a lot of time.
And we didn't add asterisks to last year's league champions. We need to do that too.
It's coming...in time.

Overall standings look nice but the totals do not match - looks like the league standings are updated but not the overall? Example - my team shows 42 runs in my league standings and only 27 in the overall (scored 14 runs yesterday). Short of looking up totals like this is there a way to know what period the standings are updated through?

I shouldn't speak out of turn here because I haven't talked with John about this yet, but would it help on League Standings to have additional columns for Difference (how many points back teams are from first place) and +/- for the last day's results? We have a lot of space there now, but if folks like the clean look we have now, that's fine. Just wondering if more is better or more is less.
I know we had the green and red +/- in Live Standings last year and some have asked about that. I'm not sure we can present that in our current format, but maybe a daily +/- somewhere will help. Just talking out loud, but I'll see what's possible down the road. I'm looking at some team and league results now and just coming up with some things that maybe could help the experience. I'll keep thinking and writing down notes.

We need a spot to write our own articles with pics. It is something I have enjoyed doing every year, leads to a more enjoyable year and some great smack talking.
I know we have the league MB, but last year we add a more prominent Add News Spot.

Still need to work on the roster stuff as well - very frustrating not being able to see current matchups, rosters, etc. I need to look at my roster and then go to ESPN or Sportsline to see the matchups. Should be an easier way?

For example sportsline shows our batter match-ups which is great for deciding whether or not to start players with extreme righty/lefty splits. STATS didn't provide this either. Since you own the software I think this is a place you want to head towards eventually. Thank you

Jason
Aaaaaaah, so now you want things you didn't have before, huh? Okay, on the list!!
I'll see what we can do here. Good suggestion. We'll bang out some other things first but you are exactly right. Once we have this down pat with all of the features we've had before along with a few other additions, we can look at some of these things like matchups and add to our back-end. Let's make this the BEST back-end game site in baseball.
I'm not being facetious, but honestly it did take us six years of building the STATS site together to get to where we were last year. You know that Jason. It was frustrating at times with how slowly we added features or made improvements, but by Year Six we all felt good about the product. Now we have a chance here through the innovative suggestions of our customers to add features to what hopefully will be a very solid foundation. Despite the rough start, I know we can do that. So give us time to keep tweaking this and soon this will be YOUR site, and one you are proud of.
I know that seemed tough to believe on Wednesday, but I honestly think it's possible today.

Seeing the current line-up is not a new thing? I am pretty sure we could do that last year. Sporstline handles it by being able to click on period 1, period 2, period 3, etc. I don't remember exactly how it was last year but I for sure remember being able to see line-ups for the current week.

Yeah, we had the current week lineups this week and then they disappeared when we went to Set Lineup for Week 2. The early week matchups disappeared when we went to Set Lineup for Friday. We already stated that matchups for current week and future week will be part of the additions next week. I think there's even a note about that on your team pages now.

Perfect. Thanks.

We need a spot to write our own articles with pics. It is something I have enjoyed doing every year, leads to a more enjoyable year and some great smack talking. You need that within the League Message Boards? Is there a character limit there now? Are you unable to load photos? Just let me know and I'll add it to my list. It's a long, but doable, list right now.
In year's past we could write articles and it would appear front and center on our League Home Page. Now the Message Booard jusat shows a title and is a click away. For example if someone in Dickie V's league wants to post a picture of the Muppet Babies and tell Dickie V it is his team's picture it is visible right away on the Home page. That's how it has been in the past and I have had alot of fun with it. It has lead to a lot of back and forth with fellow owners. I guess it could still be somewhat done on the MB, but it is not the same.

Greg -
Definitely, definitely, definitely the +/- on the standings movements by day (league and overall). It's a huge time saver when tracking the other teams.
Thanks for all your hard work -
