GEKKO -- I think the only question anyone has been asking is if you decided to bench Padilla after knowing he'd given up a few runs (or more)...or had you planned to bench him all along?

And you've been defending yourself all night long saying, or implying, that yes, you were going to bench him for Moyer all along, provided that you FAAB'd Moyer.

But the log of your moves indicates otherwise. It indicates you were benching Pavano.

So the question is, did you have a change of mind and decide to bench Padilla, rather than Pavano, before the first pitch of the Philly game?

Or did you make that decision after Padilla gave up some runs, knowing that the FAAB screwup gaveyou that loophole?

glenn - most of these guys are upset with a lot of things that happened in the past two weeks. some of their teams may not be off to good starts. they are looking somewhere to vent their anger. today, i am that someone. they want to pretend that they are more honest than me, that's fine.

it's okay, because when we all call it a night, they know i got em (both here and on the big fantasy baseball scoreboard in the sky).

Finally, here's the question and it is to you, Mark. Last Monday, did you bench Padilla because of his poor start in the first couple innings or had you decided to bench Padilla before the game started? Your answer to the question will obviously show whether you made the Padilla decision with integrity or without it. well, if you can remember last sunday/monday it was complete chaos. i'm not sure about you, but i need to know what free agents i acquire before i can decide who to play or not play. moyer was high on my list of "acquires" last week. i acquired him and started him in multiple faab leagues. i also started padilla in multiple faab leagues (even where i picked up freeagent pitchers) and multiple slow draft leagues.
I read a paragraph and have no clue if you answered my question. Let me try again,

Last Monday, did you bench Padilla because of his poor start in the first couple innings of his game? Just answer "yes" or "no". I can figure out the rest from there.
In Mark's defense he is probably thrown off by you not making a reference to the fact your team is off to a pretty good start.

Who made you judge and jury?
No one made me judge or jury. I just want an answer to the question at hand instead of reading 8 pages of when rosters moves were made. And I ask because I believe Mark will give me a straight answer because he's always been a straight shooter with me.

Based upon Mark refusing to directly answer the question though, I can come to my own conclusion.

Grand scheme of things, I don't know Mark and I don't question his character or integrity on the whole one bit.

You on the other hand...

In all seriousness, playing scoreboard and saying how much better he is than everyone else, and saying how he doesn't care about anyone else here and how he's the one running his teams is just avoidance. OK, you're a good player. Besides the fact. OK, you don't care what anyone thinks of you. Clearly not true, because if so you wouldn't post here so much, posting all of your teams and opinions. So clearly you do care what people think of you. The fact is, you skirted the rules, got caught, and have no answer other than to attack other people. Fine. This will die too. But the next time Gekko makes any post ever asking for a rule change or complaining about anything, this will all be brought up again. So yeah, do whatever you want- your team, your life. But this isn't just going away.

Gekko -- I've never read these boards much before. I've only heard of your reputation. Tonight, I've seen for myself. I understand why you have the reputation you do.

I'm only commenting about this because my team's off to a bad start? Yeah, right. You truly come off as a jerk.

Yikes on the soon to be Chesty post!

Mark already admitted to the time of the e-mail as well as that there may have been roughly a 18.00 to 9.00'ish era attached to Padilla at that time. (1st, 2nd or early 3rd inning). He provided you with all of your ammo. Sheesh...through 4 innings it's still 2-3 and anyones game...it wasn't until the BOTTOM of the 5th inning (clearly AFTER the time stamp of e-mail) that Padilla blew up. That's pretty honest. NFBC allowed the move...so he's competing. He's in a no-win here, like he said. Tell the truth and cause more problems for NFBC, or shut up and let this go away naturally.

Do you think the other thread was locked due to Bama and Gekko getting fired up and threats  , or so Gekko wouldn't spill any more beans.

There's a BIG difference between admission vs. inference and speculation...and Gekko and the NFBC knows that and that is that.

He admitted the time of the e-mail, but he's never stated that he made the decision to bench Padilla because of the runs given up. He's stated that he preferred Moyer over Padilla for other reasons.

If he would just admit that the runs given up by Padilla made his decision, we would have stopped arguing about this hours ago.

In year 1 of the NFBC (2004), we were bombarded with Gordon Gekko quotes:

Did Mark know what Padilla did when he sent the email to Greg? Of course, he did.

Nothing is going to change.

The real issue is that the integrity of the NFBC has been muddied with the events of the first FAAB run. If you allow one person to make a change after a game has started you have to allow everyone the same opportunity (much like the 830 deadline this week). I'll guess that there are over 100 different padilla owners- to hope that every single one of them acts honestly seems unrealistic. This controversy was about as inevitable as the initial FAAB problems.

In the long run, a couple of runs given up by Padilla aren't going to mean a whole lot, and depending on what he does in his 2nd start this week, removing him from the lineup may even hurt Gekko.

However, the real issue is, we should not even be in this position. If everything was working correctly before the season started, we would not have had to deal with this last minute BS and Greg would not have had to go through 800 emails about roster changes. Those changes could have and should have been made directly on a functional website. My $.02.

We all know what went on here. He won't answer the question because he knows the outcome. He knew the outcome from the moment M Co posted the first thread, and has refused to answer the question about Padilla. From that moment on, it has been Mark's campaign to deflect the question and go on the offensive. I've seen it a 100 times with people in court.

This has nothing to do with being a "MB cop", and he knows it. There really is no sense in asking him for an admission anymore. He won't do it, and he casts everyone as babies in response if you ask for the truth.

I just remember when Gekko whined incessantly about the topic of "integrity" when he perceived his winnings as potentially in jeopardy in his auction league last year.

From this, we all can draw our own conclusions. I know I have.

Gekko,

The best way out here is top stand up and be a man, admit you tried to skirt the rules, apologize for it, ask that your stats be adjusted and move on. The group and mainly yourself will have a lot more respect for you.

You made a mistake plain and simple. Owning up is your way out.

Either that or go to church and ask for forgiveness there.

What I don't understand is why Gekko waited until after 2PM to send the email to take Padilla out? That's the problem. Not a big problem, this issue probably won't matter much in the long run...but it does look like Mark was skimming from the top, as Quahogs said!

This FAAB issue didn't come out of left field, we knew about it Sunday night. I had the same issue as Mark, but I emailed Greg, Tom, and Geoff at 11:30AM on Monday and told them IF I won the CI I bid on, I wanted him in my lineup, move my current CI to OF, and remove Cust from my OF...I did this 2 hours before game time.

I then sent another email 15 minutes before game time to make sure they made the switch I requested since I was at work...Geoff made the change an hour into the game.

So I could see the time stamp as an issue related to the FAAB, but why couldn't Mark email those guys ahead of time...we had all Sunday night and Monday morning, it shouldn't of been after 2PM? I understand he didn't know if he won him, but why not send an email before game time stating your intentions if you win the guy you bid on? That is old school fantasy etiquette.

I'm sure a lot of you guys played fantasy football and baseball before computers took all of this over, I remember calling my opponent and the commish before game time and giving them my lineup...that's what we get sometimes with technology, we rely so heavily on it now that we can't perform the simple tasks we used to take for granted.

We all "sin", no one can dispute that fact. The answer is always the same, and it can only be found at a church as Fast Money said. "Let He who is without sin cast the first stone", and see what happens.
