How could he have known if he was going to start Padilla or not until he knew the full impact of his FA pickups?
There's a strong chance he considered it and was even toying with it, but a guy with a spring training ERA of over 5 and a historical ERA and whip like Padilla's isn't an automatic start for anyone in this contest.
This guy has a lot of fans. Can't figure it out. I wish I knew Greg better and could get his take. The e-mail trail speaks for itself. The ***** has no integrity and is probably enjoying his attention. Screw him.
Just curious, sorry to interrupt the lynching. A good mob never let stupid things like facts get in the way. I am in this league and I posted it but you must have missed it...
Fact is that Gekko knew he got Moyer because he started him for Pavano at 11:36.
This then changed to starting Moyer for Padilla in the email at 2:15 ET, after Padilla got hit around.
Guess Who? Auction Activate Jamie Moyer P 4/05/2010 2:30 PM ET
Guess Who? Auction Bench Vicente Padilla Bench 4/05/2010 2:30 PM ET
Guess Who? Auction Activate Jamie Moyer P 4/05/2010 11:36 AM ET
Guess Who? Auction Bench Carl Pavano Bench 4/05/2010 11:36 AM ET
Again, 11:36 he made the move he wanted and then changed his mind once the games started. He got the same player in the FAAB each run.
Nothing else should matter. [/QUOTE]

While I don't know if he did or didn't do it...fact is the FAAB screw up is the blame for it...what's done is done and everyone just needs to move on with it..
Sometimes I'm good and sometimes I'm bad....but I always try real hard.

i benched ervin santana this week even though he had two starts and is a better pitcher than padilla. where's the crybaby squad with that one? i benched carmona with two starts this week too. boo hoo everyone.
these guys have agendas and axes to grind. even larry scheter admitted that he had started padilla in three leagues. "misery loves company"

I personally think people have gone far enough with this one - but to each his own.
I will add this - Mark is in my DP league and started Padilla last week. He had grabbed Feldman via Faab - but left Padilla in. Now some might say this proves Mark planned on starting Padilla.
I would say it backs up his own account of why he pitched Moyer for Padilla. If he was truly looking to skirt the rules - then why doesn't he do it across the board and take out Padilla in the other overall contest?

To be fair, after going though all the history in the Main event it looks like one other person besides Mark benefitted from the faab snafu. I wonder why only 2. Were other people more honest or were they not allowed to make some of the questionable moves. Mark put the people that run the contest in jeopardy by lying and put a black mark on the whole contest and now continues to gloat about getting away with something that only one other was allowed too. In the end lets hope that these 2 Teams dont take money away from more honest and deserving contestents.

He could have emailed Sunday, but didn't.
He could have emailed Monday morning, but didn't.
He didn't email until after Padilla gave up runs.
And that's the bottom line, and it's cheating, and he knows it, and since he's the teacher's pet around here year after year, he gets away with it...like he always does.
And then, like always, he turns around and brown noses other folks on the boards who don't blast him, and comes up with lame excuses and putdowns for those who do.
And for those who wonder why he didn't pull Padilla in all leagues, it's easy to understand - if he did, there is no way he could have denied cheating. So he pulled Padilla only in the contest that matters most - the main event. Not pulling Padilla in every league gave Gekko a bone to throw out to others who question his integrity..."I didn't do it in all leagues so how can anyone think I cheated?" type of excuse.

Gekko said "these guys have agendas and axes to grind. even larry scheter admitted that he had started padilla in three leagues. "misery loves company"....
And Gekko, this proves what???
Yes, I started Padilla in 3 leagues. And I started him over some other pitchers who only had 1 start and are better than Moyer.
And if Greg had said "everyone has until 2:20 to set their starting lineups" then I would have seen that Padilla was getting creamed and benched Padilla on all three teams.
And you say "misery loves company???" So I'm only talking about this because I'm miserable that Padilla got bombed? Yeah, sure. That's the ticket. I'm just so freakin miserable about how my teams have fared in the first 9 days. Only one of my teams is in first place, and one of them is actually 12th out of 15!!! Imagine that. I just feel sick to my stomach about this. And with only 94% more of the season to go, it's looking pretty hopeless.

are you guys calculating how much time and energy you've spent (and will spend) in this thread. make sure to include time thinking about it, not only posting about it. i hope you didn't take time away from managing your teams to join the lynch mob of assumptions and accusations. that would be like a double whammy

i mentioned this earlier, but apparently you want to railroad me no matter what i say. facts mean nothing to a lynch mob.
do you realize you are showing how ignorant you are?

I'll donate $1000 to Greg's favorite charity to have his honest to God's take on this. Unreal how so many blow this guy.

do you realize you are showing how ignorant you are? No one is railroading anyone. No one is a lynch mob. You've given no facts. You have yet to comment on the post earlier showing that originally you took out Pavano, then you changed it to Padilla, after the game started. You've admitted you sent in the changes after the Padilla game started. I thought this thread was over too, but saying people are ignorant and throwing around words like "lynch mob" makes nothing go away. BYou've already called us "crybabies," said we are "jealous," and now it's "lynch mob." Yet the FACT have not changed.

Gekko -- you're absolutely correct that a few of the "facts" people have brought up have no relevance and don't prove anything against you.
However, as M CO just said, you haven't refuted any of the relevant facts that do prove something. You just attack and try to deflect attention when it comes to those.
Wow, I just wasted 35 seconds writing this message. I better get a life. Oh wait, I gotta finish getting my taxes ready to mail.

Lucky for Gekko, we have yet to develop the ability to lynch people over the internet. And we don't want to lynch you, anyway. We're just pointing out that Greg asked people to be honest and not take advantage of the situation, and Gekko, for one, did not do that. Were there others? I'd assume so.

This whole thread reminds me of my ex-partner Kevin D. As he was a character for sure, he was a person who didn't care what other people thought of him. Living this way will have some positives and negatives. In the two year partnership in the NFBC/NFFC, he did a few things that I wasn't proud of. I was disappointed in the way he represented himself and the fact that I was associated with this behavior. Over time I thought about his thought process. I didn't mind that he didn't care what people thought of him. Everyone needs to live their own lives. At the end of the day, I thought it was more important to me of what I thought of myself. When you go to bed at night, you have to live with who you are.
I'm not in the hang Gekko parade. But when you have taken as many shots as he has over the years, you can understand the volunteers to kick the chair out from underneath him when he has the noose on his neck. I'm not saying what he did is right or wrong. When you put yourself in the public's eye, they tend to pay attention. What he has built here is bad karma much like what happened to him in the auction last year. His competitors will play hard all season and make him earn his victories.
