i took a beating for a week. people are free to think whatever they want. if you want that on your boards, reopen the thread and we can have WWIII. i don't think that would be good for the nfbc though.
as for stirring up the citizens, this was done by Fanball telling us not to worry about the backend system all offseason and then delivering a high school website. overpromise, underdeliver. that is a FACT.
that my friend, would have been the kiss of death for fanball. the only thing that saved them was YOU being here. if you weren't here, this contest would be DOA.

not even in the same ballpark. sorry Glenn.
Give me the Watch List first so I can organize my free agents more efficiently. I don't need any stats or data listed next to players- I see news and box scores every day and know who is hitting and playing and who is not.
Like Greg and Glenn said, it's a matter of opinion. Hopefully we'll have it all very very soon.
Gek,
Honestly wouldn't bother me if there weren't any stats listed next to the players. I already know what guys I want as the week moves along. I just like to "check" them or add 'em to a watch list so I don't forget about them.

1. Load time for free agents HAS TO BE REDUCED. As someone noted earlier, one of the problems is all of the images on the page. Just like fanball magazines contain lots of graphics and color pages, the web pages are the same way. Us players don't care about the graphics when it is costing us HOURS EACH WEEK.
2. Stats shown by free agents have to be enhanced.
For pitchers, please add: games pitched, games started, walks allowed (adding hr’s allowed would be nice touch).
For hitters, please add: BB, OBP, SLG, OPS (adding 2B & 3B would be nice touch). Please move ‘runs’ back to the left of ‘hr’.
3. Free agents dropdowns have to be enhanced. The only time period you can pick is 2010.
Please add: 'last 7 days', 'last 14 days', 'last 21 days', by month, etc...
4. Please list all winning free agent bids in descending order.
I remember being told that the fanball back-end would be BETTER than the STATS backend. Well, we will be entering Week 3 of the season and all of the things mentioned above were included in the STATS backend. I will remove each of these from the list as they are accomplished. Thanks again. Thanks to everyone for going through the site and continuously providing suggestions. However, some suggestions are personal preferences. Mark, on the free agent page you want OBP, SLG, OPS, etc.? That's your choice. I just went through free agent pages and I don't see a a need for THIRTEEN categories among free agents. Doubles and triples on the free agent page??
We have said that John is working on the loading for the free agents pages. He feels he has a working solution that will be tested this week and hopefully unveiled.
We need 7 day and 14 day periods for free agents. We need Period tabs for overall standings. We need Period tabs in other spots. Those are important and things we're working on through many other suggestions before this post. I see some Team Stats functions that need to be done first, like showing Bench Player stats.
Free agents are in team alphabetical order. I understand what you're saying, but feeling this needs to be done before improving Live Scoring or the Watch List is, well, silly. We need to address the Watch List first.
I've stated what we are working on and will unveil this week. We have several programmers working on all of this and we're not just sitting still. This reminds me of all we kept asking STATS for since 2004 and eventually got. We're not talking about having everything NEXT YEAR, but doing what we can to add as many things as possible each week that goes by. But your preference list is different than ours and we're doing all we can to improve the functions that matter to everyone right now.
No offense, but if I had 9 programmers, I could build this entire site in 2 months from start to finish and it would be pretty damn impressive.... how long have they had to deliver this?
And 9 programmers to add these simple requests? Cmon, they need to blow up their IT group because they are hitting well below the Mendoza line... blaah
In the IT industry, there is a term we use... called quick hitters... well, changing the order of data on a screen, adding additional filters on data, sorting data differently... these are all simple quick hitters that a designer and a single programmer could knock out in a day. Its now 3 weeks and we are still dealing with ALOT of deficiencies. And these nuances are BEYOND annoying.
USE SOME COMMON SENSE when designing this.... not some programmer who enjoys playing video games and watching Sci-Fi movies or better yet watching Cricket because they are from a country that doesn't even know what baseball is.
Quit accepting mediocrity. If someone delivered a product like this to my business unit, odds are they would be refreshing their resume cause they would have been sh&t-canned by now.
We gave the benefit of the doubt, but Gekko has every right to complain just as does everyone else. Mistakes happen and you learn from them, but DON'T repeat them over and over again. And don't keep making mistake after mistake without consequences.
Show better results. The "programmers are working hard" phrase is getting old. Time to put up or shut up

I applaud Gekko for this thread. Somebody has to call out on the fact that we can't sort free agents by more than 2010. That is ridiculous. If this was the NFBC's first year I'd understand better, but the whole site was promised to be as good and better than last year when we signed up. Now I can't even do a basic sort.
Then I come on here and the responses to customer questions and comments are defensive rather than helpful. Very disappointing.

How many times did the Mets need to see Mike Jacobs whiff before they understood that he didn't belong in a major league lineup? We're there Greg.
Call Zaleski, or call SOMEBODY that knows how to program a quality website for fantasy baseball.

Time to put up or shut up Agreed. These IT guys keep proving they are simply in over their head. How many times did the Mets need to see Mike Jacobs whiff before they understood that he didn't belong in a major league lineup? We're there Greg.
Call Zaleski, or call SOMEBODY that knows how to program a quality website for fantasy baseball.

In my mind, I look at these programmers as the same guys that jocks used to stuff into lockers.
This payback is a bitch!
This payback is a bitch!
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

No offense, but if I had 9 programmers, I could build this entire site in 2 months from start to finish and it would be pretty damn impressive.... how long have they had to deliver this?
And 9 programmers to add these simple requests? Cmon, they need to blow up their IT group because they are hitting well below the Mendoza line... blaah

lmao - clearly we define it differently - not at all surprising though - given the ease with which you dispense compliments here :-þ I'm sorry you feel that giving compliments is something to be criticized. I do try to reserve them for when they are deserved.
I feel the frustration that many do when dealing with this contest's backend issues. I too would prefer that all was working perfectly, quickly, & without fault. Yes, I could jump in and add to the parade of "armageddon" and "the sky is falling" posts that have littered the message board in recent weeks. However, what purpose would that serve? There's more than enough of those. Believe me, those who are providing this contest for us have read enough of the "blow up this site" or "fire your entire IT dept" or "Ryan, please resign immediately" posts that one from yet another voice would have little impact or make any difference.
I prefer to try to balance the negatives by focusing on the positives as they come. There have been positives, though incremental, and I believe there will be many more to come. When I do choose to make a critical post, I try to phrase it as a suggestion that will hopefully help those running our contest make the site better, rather than just to lash out to make myself feel better. I see no purpose at all in making a post that suggests nothing but bashes everything. To each his own I guess.
Good luck this year, continue lashing out if that works for you, I'll do what works for me.
