Fence Sitters Special: Pete Rose Baseballs

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Mar 09, 2005 8:17 am

Okay, I hate to reward people who wait until the end to sign up for this event. Instead, I should be rewarding those owners who signed up early. But we are so close to filling up the NFBC's main event as we have 290 signups right now. I want to fill this up before the weekend so that we can pick the leagues and the draft spots, so I'm taking drastic measures to get these last 10 people in.

So here it is: Anyone who signs up for the NFBC's main event from this point forward will also receive a Pete Rose autographed baseball. I'll mail them out right away. I apologize to those who signed up previously and didn't get a goodie from me, but hopefully this will get the event filled sooner and your gift will be knowing your draft position before the weekend.

Pete Rose signed these baseballs for Krause Publications personally as he's a spokesman for our sports collectibles division and events. He spoke at our event in Hawaii last week and I have a dozen baseballs at my desk right now.

So let's get this done: Sign up for the NFBC's main event and I'll grease you with a free Pete Rose autographed baseball. Only 10 spots left and only 12 baseballs to give away! Let's do it.

I would rather go with 290 then reward the guys who have no loyalty to the nfcb .ITt sends a bad message.I know your doing what you think is best for the league , but i dont like it . Next year you might have guys waiting for the end , hoping this happens again. Not trying to be a jerk or stir anything , just letting out my true feelings. Still with you greg eddiejag

Still with you greg eddiejag Eddie, I hear ya - but businesses have sales all the time. You can kick yourself for signing up earlier if you want, but it's not like Greg is offering a trip to the SuperBowl to the last entrants. Next year wait if you want... ? I don't regret signing up early!!

Nice job Greg - whatever it takes to GET those draft positions out to us earlier. No tears or any complaints with using the ROSE baseballs.

Still with you greg eddiejag Eddie, I know you're a wise guy, but anybody who wants to wait next year with the hope that I'll turn into Santa Claus just isn't playing their cards right. You're a good auction league player and you must realize that sometimes when you want that certain player you go above your projections and bid $2-$3 more to get him. That's what I'm doing here. I could sit on my a-- with these baseballs and go with 285 owners right now and be a happy camper or I can do everything I can to get these last 10 owners in and get the draft spots filled before the weekend so that all of you guys get your draft spots.

Anyone who is disappointed that I didn't give them a freebie at this point in the game is missing the purpose of what I'm trying to do: Fill up 300 spots and get your draft spots to you as soon as possible. We're working on even more giveaways to give everyone during the season, so don't cry over spilled milk just yet everyone.

Greg, you should do whatever you have to do to fill up those last 10 spots. None of us should feel slighted. Those who played last year, got a shot at 10 grand with only 195 teams and your company losing money in order to keep the prizes and show your committment to branding this league. Hell, give out more than an autographed ball if it'll give us our draft positions by this Friday :D

Greg, you gave out so many goodies last year, I'm surprised you have anything left! For signing up in 2004, I got a Pete Rose baseball AND a Pete Rose autographed photo.

Freebies and goodie bags are wonderful, but my focus is squarely on the draft/auction right now. Let's get these spots filled--whatever it takes.

Do what you got to do, Greg. I never liked Pete Rose anyway...if would help, I will offer up my 1969 Fred Gladding baseball card to help sweeten the pot! :D
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Just to make my self clear , i dont care a about a free baseball or goodie bag. Im not going to wait till the end next year hoping to get something extra. I just hate having to give these fence jumpers anythink to get in . I understand we are running out of time and you need to fill these . If this gets them in , then great . But if im sitting next to a guy with a pete rose baseball im going to shove it up his ###. just kidding everybody lets fill this up . p.s. greg you did mention i was a wiseguy auction player [ which is the nicest thing anybody has ever said to me ] but i did finish 2nd to artie inthe snake draft which would also make me a wiseguy snake drafter too. fILL IT UP .
