Running Totals

Post by Team Herron » Sun Feb 22, 2004 3:39 am

Can we get a running attendee total for each of the cities. We are far enough along in the process that these numbers only represent positive feedback and dont cause concern. I think it would be interesting to have a better handle on how many people are playing where.

Just a thought.

Jesse, I have no problem revealing the numbers as I'm certainly not trying to hide anything. My one concern is that someone at the last minute may see that we're starting a new league and may hesitate to sign up because he's afraid we won't fill that league. So let's generalize a bit and still get a view of what we've accomplished to date:

Las Vegas: We have four full leagues and are working on our fifth. That means we have over 60 paid entrants for the NFBC and I have room for six leagues at the Rio. We can expand that room if needed and will gladly pay for the extra space. I am still getting lots of e-mail questions about Vegas and am convinced we'll reach our fill there, but people shouldn't wait much longer on this one.

New York: We are closing in on our third league there, so we have almost 40 signups with LOTS of calls and questions about joining the Javits Center draft. I expect the most late signups here as people can drive into the city and don't need to reserve flights like they do for Vegas. I'm convinced we'll be solid here.

Chicago: We are working on our second league and again are hoping for a late push as people decide to drive into Chicago for the draft. I still expect several leagues here when all is said and done.

We have eight NL Auction League spots for Las Vegas and six AL Auction League spots filled and I know John Menna will be joining the NL this week. We'll find a way to fill both and then close them. Two is enough for Vegas. We have six AL Auction League spots for New York and will get that one done as well. We have three Auction League spots filled in Chicago. I think there's plenty of time yet to still have fun Auction Leagues in each city.

So there's no turning back and history has shown that these events get a lot of last minute signups. We'll take 'em and do our best to get everyone in the event. Our cutoff date is March 14 so that we can announce the leagues sometime on March 15 and give everyone five days to prepare for their draft positions.

Hope this helps. Again, I've been honest about our numbers all the way through and Krause Publications is determined to make this successful for years to come and in multiple sports. We understand the bumps of the first year startups as we have hundreds of magazines, books and shows here and we're willing to ride this out. All of you have shown us that we're onto something good, so let's fill up as many leagues as we can (20 hopefully) and get it on for the $100,000 grand prize.

Greg, Thanks for sharing. Maybe you need to put something on the home page to let everyone know when the final cut off for sign-up is. Right now unless you read the message boards you have no way of knowing that March 14 is your last chance to sign up. Maybe some type of clock with a timer counting backwards toward your deadline? I think you also need to stress that there are no last minute sign-ups after March 14 even if they come in with cash in hand at one of the draft locations.

So have draft positions been assigned yet for the completed leagues???

I'd thought I would joke about it first before somebody seriously asks that question. (It was a joke) :D
