NFBC Ultimate Auction League Order

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Mar 10, 2005 3:46 am

Okay, it's time to announce the selection order for the debut NFBC Ultimate Auction League on Sunday, March 20th. I delayed this for a week because I had suggested a different way to handle the reserve rounds, but after a formal vote the majority of owners voted to keep the $260 bidding format for the required 23 players and have a 7-round serpentine draft after the auction. So that's what we'll do.

For the record, the Ultimate Auction League consists of owners in Las Vegas and New York and will start on Sunday, March 20th at 1 p.m. EST and 10 a.m. PST. Fifteen owners will create 30-player teams competing in a 5x5 format for a $40,000 first place prize, $15,000 second place prize and $7,500 third place prize. The nomination order is below and we go 1 through 15 for that in all 23 rounds, but then go to a serpentine-style draft for the reserve rounds. Good luck everyone.

1. Ari Benjamin, New York

2. Ken Magner, Las Vegas

3. Meat Loaf, Las Vegas

4. Jim Ferrari, Las Vegas

5. James Bores, New York

6. Kevin Rogers, Las Vegas

7. David Longood, Las Vegas

8. Brad Feinberg, Las Vegas

9. Shawn Childs, Las Vegas

10. Kelly Uganski, Las Vegas

11. Lewis Lipsey, Las Vegas

12. Terry Haney, Las Vegas

13. Michael Fishman, Las Vegas

14. Yoni Bornstein, New York

15. Glen Schroter, New York

Damn Glen, you keep drawing that #15 slot. Hope it doesn't work out as bad for you as it did for me last year.

Hopefully my luck changes in the main event. Fortunately, being #15 in an auction league is not a huge loss.

KOQ...this will let you sit back and scoop up all those Wide Receivers again. Oops, wrong Auction.

As I have said many times, I owe alot of my success in the NFFC main event to my experience in the auction. The football auction absolutely proved the importance of grabbing RBs, so I went RB-RB-RB in the first 3 rounds.

I suppose in baseball I can try to grab Gagne, Rivera and Lidge and see what happens.

I look forward to meeting the other owners and hope for a long history of the league. Maybe raise the price next year to 10K.
