Carlos Silva= CY

Livan Hernandez= CY runner up

I love both these guys. Dont forget Barry Zito too.

Smoak is a flop. There will never be another Ryan Braun or Hunter Pence. Smoak= Bob Hamelin

That homer Smoak hit today was no joke. Upper tank shot.

MLB Nice blast...maybe this gets the kid untracked.

Good luck to all the Smoak owners....with the kind of investments made on this kid, his owners need a few more of those.

[/QUOTE]As an "I don't own Smoak in any league I am in" owner would it be really bad of me to root for that to be the only one he hits all year?

Remember last year when Gordon Beckham started out 2-28 with 0 RBI. Safe to say he ended up having a good year. Smoak will be fine...

What does what Beckham did last year have to do with Smoak this year? Just Because they were bboth highly touted rookies then Smoak will follow Beckham's path? That makes no logical sense at all. Maybe Smoak follows Cameron Maybin's path. Or Delmon Young's path. Or Josh Hamilton's path. Maybe he follows Albert Pujols's path. Maybe he's better than them all. Maybe he's worse than them all.

Assuming that he will be fine because a completely different player was also fine in that situation is pretty siily, IMO.

Hey Hawk,

It means that people panic too soon. You are not a Smoak owner so why do you even care? You sound like a bitter hater if you ask me.

That said, I don't have anything against the kid. Just pointing out that where one guy succeeded, another may fail even if their situations seem similar on the surface. They're completely different people and Beckham's success has nothing to do with Smoak's success or lack thereof.

Hawk - Cameron Maybin and Demon Young are awful comps for Smoak. Smoak unlike Maybin, Young and Chris Davis has total control of the strike zone. He walks a ton, something the aforementioned do very little of.

Smoak has been victimized by a ridiculous low BABIP. He has been hitting the ball well but right at someone.

If Smoak is given a reasonable chance to showcase his talents (offensively that is) he will prove everyone that picked him up genius. He is that good.
