Scary Stat Errors - need research and correction

Post by SluggoJD » Sun Apr 25, 2010 10:03 am

ON EDIT - THESE ERRORS ARE NOT JUST AFFECTING FAs

The site has come a long ways, but this is scary - FA stats that are clearly wrong.

For example:

Maholm - on the FA page he shows 21 Ks, and 9 BBs. But he's only had 14 Ks, and 8 BBs. Has anyone playing him been credited with 21 Ks?

Maine - shows 17 Ks, but he's only had 14.

Anibal Sanchez has 7 Ks, not 8.

I'm sure there are many more. Our stats must be perfect, otherwise it throws into doubt what teams are being credited with each day.

At least incorrect stats would explain my low current position in some of the standings.... ;)

Arroyo shows 21K's. Should be 16.

I would imagine there are numerous mistakes

Padilla shows 25 Ks and 7 BBs, should be 23 Ks and 6 BBs.

And now it gets worse.

I have played Oswalt every game. On my team stats page, he shows:

Roy Oswalt HOU P 19.0 17 5 5 4 17 2.368 1.105 1 0

19 innings, 17 Ks, 1 win.

However, his actual stats are 26 IP, 21 Ks, 2 wins.

This is really bad.

Lincecum shows Fantasy YTD 24 Ks.

Tim Lincecum SF P 20.0 13 2 2 3 24 0.900 0.800 3 0

But he has 32 Ks YTD.

And we can't trust live stats either - right now in live stats, my team show 131 Ks total for the year.

But the team stats page shows 129 prior to today, and it's missing Lincecum's 8 Ks, and Oswalt's 4 Ks, and I really don't want to look for more...this is nuts!

I'm not positive but I pretty sure the standings are right with the totals , its just the team stats that are wrong. I noticed this last week and went thru my team to make sure the standings totals were right.

John Maine shows 13 IP for my team, but only pitched one game, and then I dropped him.

Maine shows:

John Maine NYM P 13.0 21 15 15 8 11 10.385 2.231 0 0

Which is impossible, since he was dropped on 4/11.

For the team stats, there are issues with them but they don't appear to affect the standings. Kyle Kendrick is on my team stat sheet for 2 starts, but I dropped him after his week 1 disgrace of a start. I am pretty comfortable I didn't get counted stats for someone I dropped, plus the fact my live stats are better than my team stats because of this.

Figuring out the counting stats such as W, Ks, S, Runs, HR, RBI, SB can be relatively easy by just going back and counting them from official box scores. But the non-counting stats such as WHIP, ERA, and AVG are much more difficult to accurately try and compose. I just hope this software is correct in calculating them.

Well, something's happening now...Maholm and Maine have been corrected on FA page, not sure about others, and the team stats page is currently down.

I'm trying to get an answer and will post here as soon as possible. I wish I knew something, but I don't.

Obviously the Year To Date stats were incorrect yesterday, missing last starts on some pitchers. I think they were correcting that and hopefully we can get the stats visible ASAP.

For some reason, the free agents pitchers page was showing a pitcher's totals for Ks and BBs as a pitcher AND AS A HITTER. Don't ask me why, but that's what it was doing for free agent pitchers. It was being calculated correctly within the league, but displaying improperly here.

Again, thanks for the heads up John and it is corrected now.

yes, we have a couple of good examples of this showing different totals and will correct that soon. I don't have an explanation yet for why YTD totals would be displaying differently than the correct Team Standings totals, but I'll find out soon.
