The Latest NFBC Main Event Update

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Mar 11, 2005 5:01 am

Okay, we're still working to get those final signups to fill our main event at 300 teams. We officially have 293 right now and two more teams that definitely will get in. I have five other teams on the fence, but I feel good about all seven teams. We are very close to wrapping this up, but obviously I can't pick the leagues until all seven have paid and the credit cards have cleared. Once we have that done, we'll announce the leagues and the draft spots for each team.

When will that be? It could be before the end of the day, but more likely it will be over the weekend or even Monday morning. I'll say with confidence now that it will be Monday morning at the latest as Tom and I will work this weekend and pick the leagues whenever that 300 has been reached. We're almost ready to go that way right now, so hang tight.

I know everyone is eager to know their draft spots and learn which leagues they are in, but let's get the right 300 owners first. It's been a slower week than expected, but I guess a lot of our guys made their travel plans ahead of time and signed up accordingly. That's great. I hope that happens every year. Unfortunately, it's delayed the announcement of our draft spots for everyone by a few days, but life goes on.

Hang tight a little longer and I'll e-mail everyone an update once I know when we'll have the announcement of the leagues. With any luck, it will be before Sunday's midnight deadline. If you're still looking to get into the main event, contact me at 715-445-4612, ext. 284 or via e-mail at [email protected]. I'll be in the office most of this weekend, so contact me at anytime.

See ya all in another week and thanks again for making 2005 a historic year for the NFBC. The only question I have is: ARE YOU READY FOR SOME BASEBALL? Good luck on Draft Day and be prepared!

Greg, I think it would be a great NFBC tradition to have those MAIN EVENT spots listed during the Selection Sunday show for the NCAA! ;)

Okay guys and gals, I think we're almost there. I need to run home for a bit after a long day of meetings and phone calls, but I honestly think we'll have 300 by tomorrow at the latest. We had two more signups come in online late this afternoon and two more that I had been working on previously, so we're at 297 for sure. I have to make two more West Coast phone calls tonight, but it's looking like we'll fill perfectly in each city. I will introduce the new members later tonight, but I have a previous family appointment that I MUST run to. Sorry, but all is good and I'll e-mail everyone ahead of time before posting the draft spots. Tom and I are willing to come into work tomorrow to get this done, so look for the draft spots and leagues this weekend.

Still three open spots if you're interested, so contact me or sign up online IMMEDIATELY!

Nice job, keep up the good work. That being said, a little time off never hurts anyone!

I'm in the office rather than at home or I would! :D I sure could use an MVP Sportsbook.com drink ticket now, if you know what I mean!

Time to call it a night. Let's get those last two signups tomorrow and announce the draft picks. I'm ready if you are! Thanks everyone.

Good night Greg. Great work you're doing.

Don't tell the owner of my company, but I spent most of my work day today preparing for the auction you talked me into doing :D I'm pretty sure you worked a little harder. Also went to see the new Bruce Willis movie, Hostage, with my son. Good entertainment value if you try to ignore the fact that the plot was a bit "amazing".

OK - So I'm not as good as I thought I was; but at least I am consistent.
