Coghlan still struggles against lefties but he has earned a few extra feet of leash. He looks like a completely different player at the plate. I think he is primed for a great second half. Probably right - for now at least. Coghlan needs to keep hitting though because a Coghlan-Ross-Stanton OF aligmnent is horiffically bad defensively. If he slumps, it will be very easy to slot Maybin back in CF and move Ross back to a corner position.

If Fla. drops out of it, I could definitely see them trading Ross.
[/QUOTE]Uggla can also be dealt while Coghlan can also play 2B or 3B and Cantu can play 3B or 1B so there are a lot of moving parts.

I don't know about you guys, but I think this was one heck of a week for LOW FAAB spent.

Seems like more people are saving on FAAB...maybe it's the economy?

I really thought players like Neil Walker, Galaragga, Feldman, Colvin, Niese, etc., would go for more bucks. Esp Walker...I really think people hit a homerun with a guy with full-time ab's, hitting in the 2 hole behind McCutchen, 2nd/3rd base eligibility after this week, AND 5 tool talent. Congrats on those winners (so far). I know anything can happen , but geeezzz, what a nice addition.

I lost my bid on him

In a Super league Livan Hernandez went for 189 with the second bid being 8. That team still has 644 left so they haven't been throwing it around.

I picked up C. Perez for $97 runner up $57. Not too bad except for the fact that I was the one who dropped him last week. What can I say I have Aardsma.

Not to open up a can of worms but how could that $856 for Volquez NOT be a mis-typed bid. Its insane. It would be insane in a 24-team league.

-Craig it would be resonable bid with a 100 000 FAAB budget though.

If it was a typo they should have been able to double check it as it pended and all, right?

I cant imagine someone, after seeing the reaction, coming out and saying it was a typo and asking for it to be fixed. I have seen people try stuff like that @ auctions, throwing out a way high starting bid and *crickets* and they try to take it back..no dice haha

Volquez was a polular pickup this week/last week in many elagues with positive news. Maybe that team just really felt he could make a huge impact in their opinion.

I think this topic should be renamed "Rolling Dumb Thread on FAAB Pickups".

If you bid 50 or 100 bucks over the #2 bid in your league, that doesn't make it a dumb bid. If you think you overbid, look at all the main event leagues and see what the player went for. If you bid 100 on a guy and the next bid was a buck, but if he was picked up in 5 other leagues in the same neighborhood of your bid, it was a reasonable bid. If it was just you and Ron Schandler bidding 100 bucks over everyone else in the contest, go ahead and post here.

It was a strategic choice based on my choosing to play other categories instead. Besides, that team (AZ) is in 'take down mode', and is more apt to trade him than run the season with him. Besides, his 6 year history and skill set suggests that he's miscast as a long term solution at closer. Need makes for strange bedfellows I suppose and while we've all seen stranger success stories*, to pay two hundred dollars?

*On a side note and speaking of stranger outcomes, this past pre-season Dan Kenyon (Doughboys), confided in me that he thought that Carlos Silva was a decent sleeper :D :D :D Yup, that's what I thought then....................................................... That was one helluva call Dan ;)

See my thread from 3 wks ago... Heilman was going to take over as closer - it was just a matter of time.

I'll go on record as saying he's solid the rest of the way... unless he's traded of course and goes back to being a setup man.
