Pitcher meltdowns today......

Just about the wierdest four run fifth inning I have ever seen. Two seeing-eye singles past a drawn in Chipper, McLouth comes in for what body language is saying is a easy fly ball and I do not think he ever saw it as it dropped 15 yards behind him and it ends up a triple. Only one really hard hit on the line drive by Johnson. Just a bunch of dink stuff.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

And his pitching line proves it:

7IP, 7H, 5ER, 0 BB, 10K

Not bad for an 'off' night.

I own Johan. We all know what the line on his 'off' night looks like!

Nice outing for Trevor Hoffman today. Not particularly unexpected.

I'm beginning to think that Trevor Hoffman, Doug Davis, Randy Wolf, David Bush, and Jeff Suppan are all just one guy. A guy that can throw, albeit badly, with both arms.

I'm not a big fan of when I have pitchers going up against one another.

You always going in saying, at least I'll get a win.

Often times all you end up with is a Weaver/Wilson or Harden/Cecil type of catastrophe.

Glenn True- but both are hot and are two start pitchers this week, so sitting was not really an option. Maybe if I had a DL pitcher, I could have avoided one of these- But luckily all my rostered pitchers are healthy.

as a mike leake owner- it just doesn't get any worse than that. the double bad is- ya just know that dusty is saying he should have just left leake in to pitch 8th and 9th and throw 150 pitches.

Had the Hanson & Gregg duo today to the tune of 2IP 11 hits 3BB 11ER. All that ground I made up in the last 3 weeks in the Pitching Cats just went to shiat.
